Of the hotly anticipated 16 Open Division, these girls did not disappoint. Some of the top teams in the country were duking it out, which made for some great volleyball!
Let’s breakdown the best of the best and check out the Central Zone’s Dream Team from the 16 Open Division.
Abby Vander Wal – 1st Alliance
One of the most terminal attackers in the convention center. No block was big enough, no defender was stout enough for Vander Wal. Vander Wal was huge in the championship match against Circle City
Isabelle Busignani – Michigan Elite
In her first outing of 2023, Busignani definitely made her mark. The go-to weapon for Michigan Elite, when in doubt, throw it up to Izzy! Busignani was huge in the quarterfinal versus Tri-State Elite.
Addison Makun – KIVA
One of the biggest blockers in the convention center, there’s not much getting around Makun. While her blocking was impeccable, she knows how to bring some serious heat up the middle!
Tara Greenberry – HPSTL
Another huge blocker, Tara Greenberry was a force along the net. Offensively, she was one of the best running behind the setter and had great ball placement for a middle!
Addison Horner – 1st Alliance
She can set, she can hit, she can block. Addison Horner can quite literally, do it all. In 1st Alliance’s dominant run to the 16 Open championship, Horner ran the offense so smoothly and doubled as a great option at the net as well.
Campbell Flynn – Legacy
One of the top setters in the field, Flynn runs such a smooth offense and nearly lifted her squad into a semifinal match. She’s the top blocking setter in the field and brings a wicked swing on two with her southpaw.
Sakura Codling – Tri-State Elite
NOTHING goes down on this defender. Whatever it takes, Sakura Codling was picking up the ball. Codling was one of the most exciting players to watch throughout the weekend. Bomb away, but nothing’s too strong for this ‘bro.
