With updated rankings soon approaching, seeing as many live as possible was important. Sunday I spent my time following some of the 16s teams. Here are some standouts I saw on Sunday.
Jenna McClure Jenna McClure 5'8" | OH Blue Valley North | 2025 State KS – OH – Dynasty 16 Black
At 5’8″, McClure isn’t the most oversized pin on the floor most of the time but few are as efficient as I witnessed during a match Sunday. I watched her score four straight points for her squad on an array of shots from hard-line, tooling the block, and going seam. She understands the assignment, which is to score points when her team’s back is against the wall.
Epifania Salamasina Epifania Salamasina 5'11" | MB Fort Osage | 2025 State MO – RS – Dynasty 16 Black
The thing that impressed me the most watching Salamasina was the number of touches she got at the net. Many balls she was able to slow down due to getting up and giving her team a chance to make a play on the ball. We also noticed she didn’t become a spectator after a touch, she got in transition and made herself available to her setter.
Jenna Cubbage Jenna Cubbage 5'11" | MB Eureka | 2025 State MO – OH – Rockwood Thunder 16 Elite
This was my first time seeing Cubbage in person and she didn’t disappoint. I was in a position where I was watching Power ‘] on one court, Dynasty on one court, and Rockwood on another court…every time I turned around Cubbage was making a play offensively. I liked how she mixed up her shots from going hard line to tipping in the empty spot.
Abby Chall Abby Chall 6'0" | MB Timberland | 2025 State MO – MB/RS – Rockwood Thunder 16 Elite
Chall’s blocking is what stood out during the times I watched them in action. She is very athletic and does a good job of positioning her body and hands. She recognized when a player could only attack back towards the inside due to wide sets and took away any shot they had.
Mandy Lawson Mandy Lawson 5'6" | DS/L St. Dominic | 2025 State MO – L – Rockwood Thunder 16 Elite
Lawson was all over the court for Rockwood. She has a crazy quick first step and was able to get to the balls with ease. I liked her vocal leadership on the floor as well.
Marly Burbach Marly Burbach 5'11" | S Blue Valley Northwest | 2025 State KS – S – PVA 16 Elite
Burbach was as smooth as I saw over the weekend. She was very poised and her decision-making demonstrated her ability to give what the defense gave her. Rarely did I see her force sets but she made the game easy but making smart plays and quality sets.
Alex Myers Alex Myers 6'1" | RS Blue Valley West | 2025 State KS – MB – PVA 16 Elite
I really like how quickly Myers gets off the floor. She can do work in front and behind the setter and finds good angles with her shots. She is a player who continues to make strides and raise her stock.
Ella Davidson Ella Davidson 5'10" | OH Blue Valley West | 2025 State KS – OH – Power ‘] 16 Black
I enjoyed watching Davidson on the court this weekend. She carries a sense of confidence you really appreciate. She can play all six rotations and showed she can score points behind the service line, starting off one match with consecutive aces.
Ella Stowell Ella Stowell 5'10" | MB Olathe West | 2026 State KS – OH – Power ‘] 16 Black
I was very impressed with Stowell this weekend. She has great size and a high volleyball IQ. She was tearing up the line and does a good job of elevating over the block. She is a player to keep an eye on as a 2026.
Tara Greenberry Tara Greenberry 6'3" | MB Incarnate Word | 2025 State #117 Nation MO – MB – HPSTL 16 Royal
My first time seeing Greenberry in person and the thing that stood out was her lateral movement across the front row. She is quick to the spot in her blocking attempts. She also showed the ability to score and swing from the left pin.
Hannah Leftridge Hannah Leftridge 5'10" | OH St. Pius X (Festus) | 2025 State MO – OH – HPSTL 16 Royal
A legit 6 rotation pin, Leftridge surprised me with her jumping ability as she rose over defenders. She was fearless with her rips and found the floor often in the time we observed.
Reagan Nelson Reagan Nelson 6'0" | OH Pattonville | 2025 State #107 Nation MO – RS/OH – HPSTL 16 Royal
We saw a few players take swings from the right pin and Nelson was one who stood out. She took good-angle shots and was able to find the floor on occasion. She also put up a good block against some Power ful attackers.
Logan Parks Logan Parks 5'11" | S Blue Valley North | 2025 State #8 Nation KS – S/Pin – Mavs KC 16-1
Parks is one of the most dynamic players in the class and she makes everything look so easy. From taking big swings to setting pin to pin, she can do a little bit of everything and I saw that in the match I watched.
Brooklyn Hatton – L – Mavs KC 16-1
I hadn’t seen much of Hatton but she was lights out in the set I checked out. She reads the attack well and anticipates shots and sends the ball right to spot for her setters.
Reagan McGivern Reagan McGivern 6'3" | MB Hayden | 2025 State KS – MB – Mavs KC 16-1
Really impressed with the work McGivern did in the middle. Quick sets in the middle she was money and eating away. She was also solid in the block department sending a couple back.
Ashlyn Blazer Ashlyn Blazer 6'0" | MB Mill Valley | 2025 State KS – OH – Mavs KC 16-1
Blazer was one name I didn’t know much about but left realizing she is a player. She got a couple of kills and showed she is a player I need to keep on my radar.
