A number of these prospects came through with a standout prep season in 2022. Some of those have since added to that with a great start to the winter club season.
Here’s the second of two parts looking at 2026 names that are already turning some heads in the state.
Meredith Martin Meredith Martin 5'7" | DS/L Marian | 2026 State MI , L/DS Orchard Lake St. Mary’s/Legacy
Martin is part of the young OLSM program where she played as an outside hitter in the fall. Her quickness and athleticism lends her to being able to play at the net, but it’s in the back row where she truly shines. She’s one of the great defensive assets for Legacy 15-1 ADIDAS this club season. Martin has a lot of composure and reads the opposing hitters above her age level.
Kayla Nwabueze Kayla Nwabueze 6'2" | MB Bloomfield Hills | 2026 State MI , MH Bloomfield Hills/Legacy
Nwabueze is quickly becoming one of the faces of this class. In the fall she did everything for the Black Hawks, putting down 412 kills, 155 blocks, 234 digs and 45 aces. Now, with Legacy 15-1 ADIDAS, the 6’2” Nwabueze is focused on her primary position as a middle and proving to be one of the best in the nation for the Class of 2026. She’s already garnering All-Tournament recognition and seems to be an unstoppable force.
Riley Pilat Riley Pilat 5'11" | OH Plymouth Christian | 2026 State MI , MB Plymouth Christian/Michigan Elite
Another Pilat that is shining in the PCA program, Riley provided a big offensive boost in the middle for the Eagles this fall. The 5’10” Pilat is able to come through with a lot of aggression at the net and has a high motor. She’s going to keep getting better with Michigan Elite 15 Mizuno and look to become more of a dominant middle in the 2023 prep season.
Mia Robinson, OH Swan Valley
Robinson isn’t tough to spot. In her red shoes, Robinson pops off the floor. She’s very explosive and can really pack a punch at the net, from the front row or back. Robinson also reads the opposing defenses well to attack from different angles and adjust her shot speeds. Robinson looks to be a real gem for the Swan Valley program.
Joelle Schrewsbury, S/OH Airport
Schrewsbury was a standout freshman for Airport for her ability to let the play come to her. No matter where she was on the court, she never rushed the play or got happy feet. Her digging and serve receive were consistent and effortless, and she managed to finish a fair share of points by just putting a steady swing on the ball.
Luella Whipkey, OH Oscoda
Whipkey is a multi-sport athlete at Oscoda and she made it known she will be a name to remember in the years to come for Division 4. Whipkey covers a lot of ground on the court and delivers a powerful swing with a high finish rate. She’s already got the command of an upperclassman.
Sienna Wolfe Sienna Wolfe 5'11" | OH Rockford | 2026 State MI , OH Rockford/MVA
Another promising Rockford freshman this year was Wolfe. She showed she’s got all the intangibles to be a great player. Her hitting got more consistent throughout the fall and she’s got great defensive instincts. As part of the MVA club program, Wolfe is hoping to build on her swing while adding to her serving and blocking game.
Quinn Yenshaw Quinn Yenshaw 6'0" | OH Traverse City St. Francis | 2026 State MI , OH TC St. Francis
Yenshaw was an All-Region player as a freshman for the Gladiators. At 5’11” Yenshaw has good length at the net and is picking up new aspects to her game. She should be a real force in Northern Michigan as she continues to get more reps.
