Continue ReadingThis coming weekend we will have some of the best talent in the nation in action playing at different venues around the Dallas Metroplex area. We had a fantastic time watching some of the wonderful matchups during the first stop in Austin last month and will be in person once again to help showcase some of the amazing players who stand out. This series will be to give everyone a preview of some of the players that we cannot wait to see in action. Let’s meet a few of the back row floor generals who will be in action and deserve some looks by college recruiters.
Lillian Croshaw Lillian Croshaw 6'3" | RS Northwest | 2024 State #164 Nation TX [2024] 6-3 Middle/Right Side (HS: Byron Nelson/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Lilly is currently ranked as the 23rd best overall prospect, the 9th best middle and 2nd bet Right Side in the 2024 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays high school volleyball for Byron Nelson High School and club for the nationally recognized Drive Nation volleyball club. Lilly has been in our rankings for the past couple of years and she has been stellar during the entire time we have been evaluating her play. She has interest from schools and is still undecided on where she will attend. There is still an opportunity for other schools to pick up this elite net talent for their program. She has a very strong frame which makes it difficult for any opponent to try to power through. Her blocking is stellar due to her high touch point and strong upper body that presses over the net very well. Offensively she can give your squad much versatility, as she is able to play both middle and opposite at a high level. Her power is immense and she understands how to move the ball around the block in both positions. I have seen her crush a ball down the line on the right side, which is one of the highest scoring shots there is in volleyball. Give her a look and you will not be disappointed.
Giana Brown Giana Brown 6'1" | MB Brennan | 2025 State TX [2025] 6-1 Middle (HS: Brennan/Club: Impact/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Giana is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that should change this week as we unveil the new updated list. She plays at Brennan High School and for the Impact club program out of the San Antonio area. If you have not seen her by now, you are missing out. This young lady has tremendous upside and potential as she shows off her amazing reach above the net each time she jumps. I first noticed her last summer at Nationals when I was on my way to another court to cover a different team. She blew me away with her raw athleticism and power so it made me sit down and watch her match. The impression she made on me was astounding and we have continued to watch her progress. We were able to watch her very closely in person at one of our Top 250 Expos earlier this year in December and were very impressed with what we saw. She is certainly getting better and better in the middle position and think she is a player that college scouts should know and watch. I love how she is able to help her squad on both the offensive and defensive end. She is a game changer for any squad that needs a boost at the net. Check her out!
Brynn Winburne [2024] 6-2 Middle/Right Side (HS: Lake Highlands/Club: Excel/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Brynn is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but has showcased herself really well this year. Miss Winburne plays at Lake Highlands High School and also for the fantastic Excel club program. I was able to watch a few of her matches at the first Tour stop in Austin last month and was very impressed with her level of play. She was patrolling the net very well laterally with some quick footwork. In the event that she didn’t make it all the way with her feet, she did a great job of reaching with her arms to seal the block in the seams. This is a fantastic aspect of the position as it helps to solidify the defensive scheme of the team. I also loved during her one on one blocks how much she sealed the net by pressing over it to take away space from the attacker. Most people don’t know that it is the most important part of blocking and Miss Winburne does a great job of it. She is very active at the net with a high motor and college love that in a middle. What stands out also is her high volleyball IQ of when to bang and when to swipe for an overpass. She is a great find for a college program.
