It was held in Kansas City, MO on February 18-20th. To stand out in this tournament is a big deal because of the level of players that traveled from all over the United States. This series will be about those players that stood out to me while watching their play. Let’s meet a few of those that stood out for various reasons.
Kyndal Carolina Kyndal Carolina 5'4" | DS/L Jenks | 2025 State OK [2025] 5-4 Libero (HS: Jenks/Club: Tulsa Power Volleyball/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kyndal is currently ranked as the 6th best overall and top libero prospect according to the 2025 Prep Dig Oklahoma State Rankings. She plays for Jenks High School and plays club for Tulsa Power Volleyball. Every high level coach knows that the game is won with defense and ball control in order to run high-level offense. This starts with a solid top level libero and that is exactly who Kyndal is. She is dynamic in every single aspect of the position and has moved her way up the state rankings in Oklahoma. What I saw at the tournament was someone who was completely focused on the task at hand and that was slowing the opponent down. She was instrumental in keeping her squad super competitive in every match because of her amazing court vision. When I watched them play, I was very impressed with her defensive range. There were many great shots by the opposition that I thought were going to fall and then out of nowhere Miss Carolina emerged and not only touched the ball but got it up and extended the rally. She wowed me and the other college coaches that were watching by their court.
Ava Poinsett [2025] 5-11 Outside (HS: Francis Parker/Club: Coast/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ava is currently an unranked prospect according to the 2025 Prep Dig California State Rankings. She stars for Francis Parker High School and plays club for the nationally recognized Coast volleyball program. I was introduced to Ava last year during her freshman campaign and this year all she has done is gotten even better! She is one of the main focal points of the Coast offense and this young lady carries that weight very well. Her right arm is golden and she can score at will from any location on the court. In the two full matches I watched, Miss Poinsett put on a clinic of how to play the game at a high level and score from the left pin in a variety of ways. I was most impressed with her demeanor, as she never let any score or situation mess her focus up. Even when her team was put in pressure situations, she rose to the occasion. It is this factor that tells me she is one scary volleyball player to go up against. She is the real deal and deserves every accolade that comes her way.
Leyna Nguyen Leyna Nguyen 5'8" | OH Archbishop Mitty | 2025 State CA [2025] 5-7 Outside (HS: Archbishop Mitty/Club: Vision/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Leyna is currently an unranked prospect according to the 2025 Prep Dig California State Rankings, but once we release the rankings, she will for sure be on it. She plays for Archbishop Mitty High School and plays club for Vision Volleyball. I stopped by to watch another team on their court and immediately changed sides to get a clearer view of one of the most dynamic outside attackers that was in the gym that day. She doesn’t look like much at first glance and that is where the scariest aspect lies for most of her opponents. Everyone will for sure overlook her and then once she connects on one ball all strategies for her opponent will get thrown out of the window. This young lady is worth the price of admission to any gym she plays in. My mouth was wide open when I saw her vertical and explosive arm swing. If it wasn’t for her height, every college coach in the country would be knocking on her door to meet her. If you have a chance, watch this young lady play and grab some popcorn and a drink because you will enjoy the show.
