From the 16s to the 17s, you couldn’t find better volleyball than these two divisions in Indianapolis. There were some serious bombs being thrown this weekend from some of the most elite attackers in the country. The 2024 pins were on fire this weekend!
Here are some of the top pin attackers at the 2023 Central Zone Invitational.
Alaleh Tolliver – Academy
En route to the championship in the 17 Open, Alaleh Tolliver was on fire! At the net or storming through the pipe, Tolliver was scoring with ease all weekend long. Tolliver was especially huge for Academy in the championship match.
Meryl Zunk – Academy
Out goes one, in comes another high flying pin with a heavy arm. Meryl Zunk gave the Academy a real mean thread of attacks on the left pin. Zunk was bringing the heat all weekend long.
Taylor Lewis – Boiler Jrs
You simply couldn’t feed her enough for this Boiler Juniors team, Taylor Lewis was bombing away to a really effective tune. She’s the go-to weapon for a reason. At the net she has all the shots and through the pipe, she has a really clean touch.
Kathryn Sowko – Rock City
Rock City was somewhat of the dark horses on the weekend. They were able to make quite some fuss because of the play of Kathryn Sowko. A live-wire arm that can play some top notch defense. Sowko’s top spin serve also served up trouble throughout the invitational.
Jersey Loyer – Summit
A real game changer on the court, Jersey Loyer puts this Summit squad on her shoulders and soars. She’s the vocal leader every team needs and she follows it up with elite level play. An arm that not many can slow down, and she follows it up with impressive pass and defense.
Audrey Geer – Legacy
Talking about pins that can bring the heat at the net and then ice hitters with their back court play, Audrey Geer is one of the best at this. Geer is filling in some big shoes, offensively, quite nicely this season. Her back court play is always a highlight as well.
Jackie Scheiber – Michigan Elite
While this team may have struggled to find some offensive traction this weekend, they really have something going on the right side with Jackie Scheiber! We saw a lot of Scheiber last year as a setter, but she is looking top tier attacking on the pins at Central Zone. A lot of gritty shots that often worked in her favor!
