will occasionally make luck through a surprise. One example of this is a first contact bumpset directly to an attacker to hit. As a setter, Cann will hold a slightly before releasing to set which opens up an option for pushes to middles.
Elaine Turturi (2023) | 5’6” | DS/L | Long Beach VBC
Discipline of patience is hard to find in the urgent sport of volleyball but is found with Elaine Turturi. Her mentality when passing or digging is to get the ball up rather than out. Turturi is a hustler and even when the ball makes her move she finds a way to get that momentum back to her target.
Jamie Roth (2023) | 5’10” | MB | Long Beach VBC
One consistency seen with Jamie Roth is that quicks are hit about 15 feet and higher sets are hit about 25 feet. She gives herself space away from the net which enables both the shallower attack and also a controlled swing. She touches a height of the second white on the antenna when blocking.
Madison Bizjak (2023) | 5’5” | DS/L | LaJolla VBC
Standing with a good posture, Madison Bizjak gets low very quick. A likely conclusion is that she also has a quick reaction that makes change of direction at the snap of a finger. Bizjak has range to stand on defense at 22 feet and pickup a tip landing at eight feet.
Katie Carroll (2023) | 5’10” | S | Academy Volleyball
While mostly a setter, the lefty, Katie Carroll, is a natural zone six to zone five attacker. While hitting, she maintains consistency in the speed of her approach. Carroll has a medium height contact point that is slightly higher when backsetting. Additionally, her contact point is slightly away from her forehead.
Biko Hollie (2023) | 5’9” | OH | Surfside VBC
Get up and go is a thought that might come to mind when watching Biko Hollie hit. Additionally, setters will enjoy setting Hollie as she has a big window created by the flexibility of her arms. Her arsenal includes a difficult to run down tip to zone one and a left shoulder drop deep cross court shot.
