I kind of cringed typing that but nonetheless, who made moves this go around? I’m going to repeat it as I think it’s valuable; an athlete moving down in the ranking may have nothing to do with them but more on the play of an athlete we felt needed to move up. Let’s take a look at some of the players who made moves more than just a handful of spots in this edition.
Koontz made the highest jump after a season that saw her earn all-state honors from the libero position. She also stood out at the Prep 250 showcase and caught our attention. Last fall she was just short of 600 digs with 594.
Highlights
Gormley made a huge jump in the rankings into the top 30 at 27, up from 81 in the last rankings. She played her way onto the second team of the Class 5A all-state team. From the middle position, she had 275 kills and 70 blocks. This was an increase from 142 and 47 in a shortened sophomore season.
Laincz was lethal on the pin for Lansing in 2022 and saw her ranking propel into the top 30 at 29, up from 43. We expect to see her continuing to climb after what’s been a strong club season so far. During the high school season she collected over 400 kills.
Highlights
35 spots was the jump Corcoran made to get to 30 in our latest rankings release. She did damage from the pin for Circle to the extent of 442 kills. She was first team all-state in class 4A.
Highlights
Ottawa has a star in OH Keebaugh, who comes in at the 34th position, previously she sat at 63rd.In 2022, she dropped the hammer with 527 kills after a junior year of 454. She collected 393 digs for good measure.
Rivers has been electric this club season as evidenced by the recent commitment to Washburn University. She is a high flying pin who has seen her stock elevate. Her ranking has moved to 43rd, up from 83rd.
Brown didn’t have to produce the numbers she did in 2022 with a more balanced team but she was still key offensively with close to 300 kills. She was lethal behind the service line raking up 70 aces along the way. She moved up to the 56th spot in the rankings from 72nd.
Highlights
6.5 kills per set, that’s a total of 568 kills for the outside from Rossville. She grabbed second team all-state honors and makes the move in the rankings to 58 from 80.
