McKinnon is such an impressive athlete. Just 5’9 at middle, she has incredible elevation as she gets her head above the tape when contacting the ball. She can go over and through space with ease at times as she generates big pace with her quick arm. She helped lift her Memphis team to the gold championship round where they fell just short in a tough three-set loss in the quarterfinal round. Her impact though is very noticeable as she competes with great energy to match her physical tools.
Alaleh Tolliver – Academy
It is amazing to think that Tolliver is still uncommitted given the offensive force she is for a very good Academy 17 Tsunami team. She sees a lot of volume in her workload on the left side but never seems to tire. At 5’10, she has good lift and benefits from the consistent quick tempo and location she receives from her dynamic setter. Her point production is often memorable while she can also contribute effectively in the reception phase as a key six-rotation pin for this team.
Avaya Maga – Hurricanes
It was fun to watch Maga and her team compete in 17U Power Pool action as the visitors from Canada increased their impact on the tournament as it progressed over the two days. As the team’s primary setter, Maga is a skilled in her distribution as she can deliver through both pins with good tempo and great composure. She was the key catalyst to their final win over KIVA on day one that translated to an incredible effort on Sunday, which ended with a tough 17-15 third set lost to the tournament’s top seed and eventual runner-up in Academy 17 Tsunami.

– NKYVC
Lentz is an uncommitted all-purpose athlete that is contributing very well in the setting phase for NKYVC as their offense has a variety of options that when balanced is difficult to defend. Lentz sets three rotations and makes a huge impact in a seamless situation across both setters. She has great moments in her decision-making and location all weekend that help this team with their third consecutive tournament over three straight weekends. Lents is also a big contributor in other areas as she is a key factor for this team’s service pressure focus while also capable of making big plays on the defensive side. She has tools to be able to pass and swing effectively as well making her a solid prospect for the next level given her complete skill set.

– KIVA
Smith is effective with her offensive opportunities as she has good length on the left side at 6’2. She can generate good power through her arm mechanics and when on time and balance in the air her contact point can apply good pressure on the defense. She had some noticeable moments over the weekend in the front and back rows when her mechanics were fluid and through good rhythm she was able to terminate with authority. Smith and her KIVA team overcame a tough first day to rebound and make it to the semifinal round of the championship bracket.
