We are also realizing the need to issue this disclaimer. A player moving down in the ranking doesn’t mean they did something wrong. More times than not it was the rise in the game of others that slid them down. With that said, here are the biggest moves in the 2024 rankings.
The setter/hitter had another strong year that saw her earn all-state honors for Marshfield. The future collegiate setter had 450 assists and over 200 kills. At 6’0″ she brings a lot of intangibles to the table as she moved up to the 11th spot in the rankings from 16.
The second setter to make a jump is the St. Louis area Bergjans, who had a big year for Incarnate Word. She totaled over 1300 assists in her first full varsity season. We expect her to continue to rise in the rankings after elevating to 13 this go around from 23rd.
Highlights
Bergjans teammate and one of her main connections, Killion makes the jump from 28 to 15 in our latest edition. She brings a lot to the table as a six-rotation pin. She had a stat line of over 350 kills and over 250 digs during the high school season for Cor Jesu.
The St. Michael’s pin tallied just below 300 kills in her junior campaign to make a move in the 2024 rankings. She showed the ability to make plays both offensively and defensively all season. She passes the ball well and is dependable in all facets of the game, which helped her move up to 25.
Liberty North had some of the biggest shoes to fill in the setter position and it took two people to do it. One of those players was Wright, who had a breakout season to help the Eagles return to the final four. She moves up 9 spots to 30. She had 635 assists in a two-setter system.
A season removed from ACL surgery, Davis appeared to not lose a step and looked as explosive as she did pre-injury in 2022. She is a pin but clocks a lot of time in the middle during the high school season. She helped her Club North team recently grab a national bid at Sunshine Classic. She is now ranked 32nd, up from 44th.
Highlights
Wattenbarger jumped up 9 slots to the 38th position after a high school season that saw her produce 786 assists for St. Joseph Christian. She is poised and runs the offense with precision.
One of the biggest movements in the rankings was Bartlett from Liberty High School. She was placed in the libero jersey this fall and was key in helping the Blue Jays to a 30 win season. She entered the season as the 136th ranked prospect but jumped to 40th after 345 digs and over 400 receptions.
Platte County doesn’t make the final four without many players but Johnson’s elevation in her game was huge in 2022. So huge she saw her ranking go from 139 to 44. Her kill numbers doubled this fall. Her dig numbers went from 33 to 232 as she found herself on the floor more defensively.
Another big jump in the ranking was Bray, who went from 122 to 51st after tallying over 1000 assists for Nixa last fall. She was dependable playing in every set for the Eagles.
Highlights
Massey had over 400 receptions and 240 digs in 2022. It was her play not only during the club season but the Top 250 showcase that helped her move to 65 from 97 in these updated rankings. She is a solid defender who has potential to move up ever higher.
