The bid division had 42 teams in action and Prep Dig was at the FAST Complex on Sunday, following the matches of the gold and silver brackets and taking a look at the best 16 teams in the field.
We’re taking the week to point out some players who stood out with their teams and we start the series with the setters:
Sydney Louis
Sydney Louis
Louis’ intelligent and efficient playmaking took TAV Houston 18 Adidas a long way as she guided her team to the final of the gold bracket. With her quick release and smart distribution, she did a very good job of keeping all her hitters involved. Louis is also very good at tracking passes off the net and turning them into hittable sets. She made several big plays on defense, benefiting from her great positioning and ball control, and was always very impactful from the service line.
Alamo 18 Premier’s star setter was of big importance to her team as she had pivotal roles for them in several areas of the game. Very tall and skilled, she made her hitters look good with her intelligent distribution and her deep understanding of the game and her ability to feel the moment of each hitter. Anderson was very creative with her plays too and that created several possibilities to her hitters. Her size was also very impactful at the net as she was a strong hitter and blocker for her team.
Texas Legacy 18 Elite’s talented setter was a rock for her team, guiding them with her play and her leadership. Very smooth on the ball, she had a strong group of hitters to work with and facilitated their scoring with a smart distribution and excellent accuracy. She’s always very calm and analytical and consistently makes good decisions, besides having great resources to make plays. Jennings also worked hard on defense and was very successful with her defensive plays and also had some good serving runs that got opponents out of system.
Other Positional Breakdowns:
Grimm was one of the standouts in her SA Juniors 18 Adidas team with her steady and efficient play. She has a very clean touch on the ball and remained accurate with her locations all-day long. She made some really good plays with passes off the net, making high sets that placed her hitters in a good position to score. Grimm also run a fast and efficient offense when in system. She makes good decisions with her positioning and gets a lot of touches on defense.

Valeria Ortiz
The electric Ortiz played a big role with her SA Magic 18 Elite team, running the team’s offense in steady and efficient fashion. Very quick on the court, she was really good at tracking passes and kept her sets all inside a reliable zone of the court which allowed her pin hitters to always swing hard and score. Ortiz also had good moments with her serving and was very active on defense, generating several transition opportunities to her team.
