Mid-East Qualifiers is the place to be this weekend with some of the best talent from around the country, not just the Mid-East. Weekend 1 will hold host to the 16s through 18s age group. Temps outside are calling for a chillier weekend, but the Indianapolis Convention Center is going to be RED HOT!
Let’s take a look at some of the top match-ups to watch on Day 1 of MEQs in the 17 Open Division.
Pool 1: NKYVC vs. Team Pineapple

It’s going to be a brawl in this match in pool 1. NKYVC is riding a real high coming off of their Triple Crown championship. Led by the monster in the middle, Julia Hunt (Washington) and S Abby Yoder (Ohio State). This connection is insane to watch go down. Across the net will be another pair of killer connections between OH

(Central Florida). Ball can also double as a hitter pretty effectively too. You do not want to miss this match.
Pool 2: Colorado Juniors vs. UNION
This match could be smooth sailing or a real dog fight, and I think we might see the latter. While Colorado Juniors has a significant size advantage over UNION, I wouldn’t count out these pesky undersized kids to find a way through. Juniors has a huge block on the right side that includes S/OPP Izzy Starck (Penn State) and OPP Addie Kanouff (Texas Tech). A 6’2, 6’5 duo at the net is going to be one tough wall to break through. On UNION’s side, they’re led by OPP Mackenzie Wagner. The lefty is a complete six rotation weapon with all the shots to score the point.
Pool 3: Triangle vs. Legacy

Fresh off the bat to open day 1, this is another match that could go really well or turn into a fight. Triangle is a big favorite in this one. With the likes of Asia Thigpen (Kentucky), Ashlyn Philpot (Illinois) and Kiarrah Horne, this is a trio for disaster! Triangle needs to be on full alert in their opener against Legacy though. This team managed to fight their way into the gold bracket on Day 3 of Sunshine and could easily pull off another upset or two in Indianapolis. L Kiley Gallagher will have her work cut out for her on Legacy’s side of the net.
Pool 5: Dynasty vs. NC Academy
NC Academy will have their hands full in this match, but it’ll be a great watch nonetheless. Dynasty is tough! Between the likes of Nebraska committed Skyler Pierce, then add Abigail Mullen and Resse Messer to the mix. They’re one of the favorites to be in the mix for a bid this weekend. They’ll have to fight off the Julianna Horta (Appalachia State) ran offense for NC Academy however.
