Interestingly, each setter has a different way of going about that. These athletes move a lot, use a strong foundation, or shoulder a load to create opportunity for their hitters.
Danielle Halphide (2025) | S | SADDLEBACK
Posture to stay tight and coiled creates a solid foundation for Danielle Halphide to build on her potential. Add that to her regular flat hands finish to target and Halphinde really has a few years ahead of her for potential development. This 6-2 setter that stays to hit also has her back to the net when waiting in serve receive, something only seldom seen in her age group.
Chloe Navong (2025) | S | OCVC
A 5-1 setter, Chloe Navong, utilizes a split step before setting to get her active feet very involved in her skill performance. This footwork currently gives her a range of about 13 feet to chase down a pass in serve receive. Consequently, Navong makes precise sets high and off the net.
Sadie Abraham (2025) | S | Actyve
Each setting has a different comfort level when using hands or bump setting and for Sadie Abraham that comfort level is deferring to a bumpset. Unlike most active setters, this Actyve setter stays a little bit longer to play defense before release to an X spot. Abraham, a 5-1 setter, drives a 20 foot line flat jump float serve.
Maddie Mendonsa (2025) | S | Synergy Fire
A 6-2 setter that subs, Maddie Mendonsa, makes great use of her time on the court. With a right hand that dominates a set, she keeps the ball off the net with a rare tight set. Her right, left, right footwork does incorporate an occassionlly crossover step when the ball is passed behind her.
Caitlyn Fuehrer (2024) | S | ACT Volleyball Club
Better the ball is a great phrase for Caitlyn Fuehrer and her game. When the pass is out of system, she simply passes up nice and high to allow a hitter to better the ball. When a set is out of system, Fuehrer simply hits the ball nice and high and deep to allow her team’s defense to setup. This 6-2 setter also hits in the front row.
Addison Hembree (2024) | S | TStreet
Cannot help and sit back watching the body control Addison Hembree plays with. She has a great crossover footwork pattern with a pass in the middle of the court and a simple right, left, right with a pass in front of her. Additionally, her shoulder use to guide a bumpset is nice to watch.
