Payton Tompkins – Skyline 17 Black – OH/DS
Peyton Tompkins is currently uncommitted and will be traveling to the Show Me Qualifier with her team in tow. The 5’11 outside can from Lake Highlands High School has a lot of versatility in her play that she can own the front row or easily transition to a libero position. Her length allows her to cover a lof of the court in serve receive and she often passes in those rotations. Out-of-system? No problem for Payton. Her high contact point allows her to score even on the toughest of sets. Her team will be playing in the 17 Open division.
Rachel Rasband – Skyline 17 Black – S/RS
Skyline 17 Black teammate Rachel Rasband could be a great addition to any program. She plays for Wakeland High School which made a huge run in the State Playoffs last fall. She is very disciplined in her play and is always in the right place at the right time. She is a great right-back defender as well and has an aggressive serve in her skill set tool belt. She doesn’t shy away from a hard-driven ball like other setters do and takes the swing head-on. Rachel’s setting has developed so much since last season and will be one to keep your eye on.
Shelby Burriss Shelby Burriss 6'1" | MB Lovejoy | 2025 State TX – Drive Nation 17 Red – MB/RS
Middle blocker Shelby Burriss Shelby Burriss 6'1" | MB Lovejoy | 2025 State TX is a monster at the net whose presence is commanding to say the least. She has a wicked snap on the ball and a happy birthday ball that will make any libero run away. She plays for Lovejoy High School who has a reputation for winning State Championships so she has the mindset to go with the skill set. She plays on an already qualified Drive Nation 17 Red team and uses her agility and speed to contribute to this already stacked team. At 6’1, Shelby would be a major pick-up for any program looking for a middle who can terminate at a fast pace.
Kaylin Starling Kaylin Starling 6'0" | MB McKinney Christian Academy | 2024 TX – 1United 17N Jeff – MB
Another middle from North Texas is Kaylin Starling Kaylin Starling 6'0" | MB McKinney Christian Academy | 2024 TX who is solid offensively and defensively. The 6’0 middle has a very fast transition off of the net, a fantastic, timed approach and she looks for the gaps in the opposing block. From the sideline, she looks to be an offensive-minded middle who is not okay with being left out of the play. She tries to be available whenever she can and talks to her setters to let them know she’s available. Her team will be competing in 17 USA this weekend.
Avrey Keim Avrey Keim 5'9" | OH Dripping Springs | 2024 State TX – Austin Performance 17 Adidas – OH/DS
Avrey Keim Avrey Keim 5'9" | OH Dripping Springs | 2024 State TX is an underrated outside in my opinion because of her size. While she may be 5’9, she brings a lot to the table on offense and is extremely athletic. She has a high volleyball IQ and aggressive attitude that any coach would want in their program. Avrey is also an excellent passer that can double as a DS or libero if needed, again using her athleticism to make plays. She has tons of 6 rotation playtime that fuels her potential and increases her skill with every game.
Kellen Fitzgerald – Frisco Flyers- 17 APX Brian – S/DS
Kellen Fitzgerald is a defensive-minded setter with a great read in defense. What is impressive about Kellen is her defensive capabilities and fast reaction time. On the setting side, Kellen does a fantastic job of keeping up a fast-paced offense and jump-setting everything she can. She has made some great decision-making down the stretch, finding hitters and making them successful. Kellen is definitely an underrated setter and I will be keeping up with her from now on.
Brittan Fedyk Brittan Fedyk 5'5" | DS/L Smithson Valley | 2024 TX – San Antonio Juniors 17 Adidas – L
Smithson Valley High School libero Brittan Fedyk Brittan Fedyk 5'5" | DS/L Smithson Valley | 2024 TX is a solid serve receiver that brings energy and passion to the court. She is confident in serve receive and plays the deep serve very well. She works her angles back to target and is a huge playmaker on hustle balls. That kind of play is exactly what you will see out of Brittan at the Show Me Qualifier. Make sure to check out her schedule in the USA division.
Nevaeh Smith – San Antonio Juniors 17 Adidas – MB
Middle hitter out of O’Connor High School Nevaeh Smith is a slept-on middle that packs a strong swing. At 6’2, she uses her size and strength to put a lot of power behind her swing. She is known for bouncing balls. She can cut shots back to the setter as well for a point almost every time. She has an excellent slide that she runs that she hammers home and it is very intimidating. Navaeh could easily play a pin position with her elevation and strong swing, and colleges should really take a look at her capabilities.
Jamia Johnson – TAV 17 Blue – RS
Last but not least lefty right-side Jamia Johnson from Cedar Hill High School is a player that should be picked up immediately. She has tons of high school accolades as a freshman and sophomore and she is just getting started. Jamia has a heavy left arm on the right side and can bounce balls down the line. She has excellent timing on the block and is elevated way over the height of the net. Jamia and her team are playing in 17 USA and are a must-see group of athletes.
