The Prep Dig Champions Cup will bring a variety of teams across the state to the Community First Champion Center in Appleton this weekend. Many of these athletes are familiar with Prep Dig events as our scouts have seen many of them in action during their high school and club playing days. Here are five teams to have an eye on as we head into the weekend in regards to who could be in the hunt for a title.

I AM VBC 16 Red

There is a lot of athleticism and firepower with this team. They competed in the Prep Dig Resolution and I recently saw them play at the Badger Region Qualifier where they advanced to the day two bracket, the elite eight. [player_tooltip player_id='202194' first='Kylee' last='Altendorf'] is an uber athletic outside who has been a Top Performer in prior Prep Dig Events. She brings a dynamic style of play in every rotation. They have quite the blocking duo with [player_tooltip player_id='184545' first='Lillian' last='Merow'] on the right side and [player_tooltip player_id='359928' first='Kathryn' last='Urban']. They bring a lot of strength and power and will make the opposing side think twice while attacking. [player_tooltip player_id='202195' first='Madelyn' last='Abel'] is one of their setters and has a great all around game. She's got great footwork, a smooth release, and is a really solid defender. They will be one of the teams to beat in the 16s Division.

[program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] 17 Blue

This team is coming off a big performance from the Badger Region Qualifier where they earned a Freedom Bid, they have their ticket punched to Chicago. The key to this team is their balance where they have a plethora of attackers who can score points. On the right side is a really solid duo in Breanna Ramczyk and [player_tooltip player_id='146963' first='Ella' last='Hawkins']. Hawkins brings a big time left handed swing and a solid block. Another outside hitter to watch is [player_tooltip player_id='178351' first='Hailey' last='Kobussen'] out of Kaukauna High School who is playing an age level up as a 2025 prospect.

Wisconsin Flight 18 Black

Another team who will be in the hunt for a title this weekend. Wisconsin Flight 18 Black has had really solid showings at multiple national qualifiers and athletes who have had very successful high school careers. Two big attackers that will bring a big swing and cause havoc at the net is [player_tooltip player_id='119430' first='Caitlyn' last='Pernsteiner'] and Olivia Grall. Pernsteiner can play six rotations and can score points from the pin while Grall is explosive out of the middle and has shown that she can be very dynamic. [player_tooltip player_id='149603' first='Alexis' last='Jonas'] out of Mosinee can do a little bit of everything as a setter. She can score points on her own with a left handed swing or get the ball to her open attackers.

[program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] Flyers 17 Navy

This group is a satellite team of [program_tooltip program_id='428591' first='FC' last='Elite'] based out of Luxemburg with many of the athletes coming from a successful Luxemburg-Casco High School program. The two who get it started are quite the backcourt duo in Payton Kaminski and Brooke Vande Hei. These two have teamed up for plenty of big digs and are extremely solid in serve receive. An up and coming outside hitter is Jillian Jorgensen who was a top performer at the Prep Dig Resolution where the Flyers advanced to the gold pool crossovers going 3-0 on day one and having a strong finish in a very talented field.

Elite Alliance 17-1

Elite Alliance will be making the trip across the state from the Holmen/La Crosse area where they are very familiar with success at Prep Dig Events. They advanced to the Prep Dig Resolution power pools and have no fear going up against the top teams. There is a lot of Class of 2024 talent on this team that could be some hidden gems at the next level. Izzy Jahr and Bryne Swenson will be two to keep tabs on to score points while setter Kinlee Gratton finds the open attackers.

FDL Fusion 17 Purple

[program_tooltip program_id='431937' first='Fond' last='du Lac Fusion'] always has teams who are going to be scrappy and competitive. This team is another squad coming off a nice weekend at the Badger Region Qualifier where they advanced to day two and the elite eight. Brielle Seymour starts the offense with the first contact as the libero where setter [player_tooltip player_id='445365' first='Jillella' last='Smit'] runs the show, finding attackers. She is highly effective in connecting with her middle Braelyn Lewis who was able to score points in the deep corner. Averie Suprenand will be one to watch out the pin who can score points as well.
