The setter/hitter is the highest newest face in the rankings this go around. A class 4 all-state honoree, VanOverschelde did many things last fall to help her team in 2022. At 5’9″, she displays great athleticism. She posted 142 kills and 631 assists.
Sanborn was key in helping Webb City advance to the Class 4 Final Four this fall. Her play earned a spot on the all-state roster. She dished 1043 assists and added 90 kills. Another area of strength was her defense where she had over 200 digs on the year. She is known for tremendous decision making and leadership.
In keeping the streak going, newest addition Mackenzie Smith Mackenzie Smith OH Hillcrest | 2023 State MO brings many intangibles to the table as she puts Hillcrest in the rankings. She was a dynamic scorer, dropping over 400 kills from the pin. She showed her ability to set with over 200 assists. Her play put her on the Class 4 All-State team.
Jefferson City’s Hannah Linthacum Hannah Linthacum 6’3″ | MB Jefferson City | 2023 State MO not only earned all-state honors, she made it into the final 2023 rankings after a superb senior campaign. The 6’4″ middle show her defensive authority with 149 blocks on the year. Offensively, she was equally efficient with 228 kills.
Belton had a good mixture of youth and experience in one of their strongest seasons to date and the senior Caskey provided leadership and play making ability. She averaged 4.2 kills per set to get to 423 on the year. She was awarded with her play by a spot on the Class 4 all-state team.
Platte County left Southeast Missouri with a 3rd place finish and you can credit the play of Stehlik as key to the run. She was strong all year hitting behind the setter finding points 261 times. She also grabbed over 100 digs in the back row. All-State honoree in 2022.
Maryville’s Rylee Vierthaler Rylee Vierthaler 5’11” | MB Maryville | 2023 State MO found a spot on the Class 3 all-state team last fall after a strong season. How about 576 kills? We also can’t forget her 352 digs.
Clinton placed one player on the all-state team and it was Brown, who enters the rankings at 63. She showed she can carry a team offensively with over 350 kills on the season. She was equally strong defensively with over 370 digs to pace the team.
Hailey Henderson Hailey Henderson DS/L Eldon | 2023 State MO had a strong final high school campaign evidenced by her placement on the Class 3 all-state team. She was eating up everything that came her way, finishing the year with 661 digs. One thing we learned about her is she is also a really good basketball player.
Pleasant Hill played for a state championship in 2022 and Layton was lights out along the journey. She was tabbed all-state after a season which saw her with 323 kills.
Mary Kate was Class 5 all-state in 2022 for St. Dominic, who was a state semifinalist in the state’s top class. The setter had just under 900 assists and almost 300 digs on the year.
