Sparking all these heat comes from the hands of some high level setting. it was all here in the 16 Open with some of the best setters of tomorrow all on tap for this incredible weekend.
Here are some of the top setters coming out of the 2023 Mid-East Qualifier.
Charlotte Glass – Tribe
This was my first shot at watching Glass live and needless to say, she did not disappoint! One of a few lethal lefty setters on tap for this tournament, seeing Glass take control of the ball on two is almost more impressive than her beautifully ran offense.
Ava Hunter – Circle City
This Circle City squad is a pretty dangerous one for a reasons and one of the biggest is their strength at the setting position. Hunter put on a show this weekend and was a driving force to not only her team’s MEQ Runner-Up finish, but punching their ticket to GJNC in July.
Jacy Correjo – Austin Skyline
Another setter that hasn’t been heavily on my radar, Correjo had a standout weekend in Indy. While gifted with some pretty talented setters, Correjo makes all the difference with her play. Her ability to run the court and flip the set was quite impressive.
Campbell Flynn – Legacy
You can’t get enough of Flynn. Or at least, I can’t. Yet, another lefty setter with a big bomber for a second contact, she makes the game so much fun to watch. Flynns blocking really stood out this weekend as well, a part of her game that’s developing really nicely
Ella Craggs – Michigan Elite
Another setter that makes the game a lot of fun to watch, Craggs’ game this weekend was on point! This setter is developing into one of the premier players in her class with such a high level IQ and touch on the ball. Craggs takes her team a long way and it showed here.
Abigail Li – A5
This setter came into the weekend looking to make some statements and they were definitely noted. I caught a glimpse of this team back at Triple Crown, but didn’t take notice until now. Li does a lot of good for this team and it’s only up from here.
Chloe Giehtbrock – L2
In her first season out as a full time setter, Giehtbrock is truly the heart and soul of this L2 squad. Giving all that can can from setting, defense and throwing in some offense, it goes a long way. While not the ideal weekend this team could’ve hoped for, Giehtbrock’s efforts were noted!
