There are players we knew would be outstanding, players that shocked us with how much they have grown in their athleticism and skills, and some we just didn’t know where out there. We are taking a look at those who are skyrocketing up in the world of Oklahoma volleyball.
West Side:
Anna Rice Anna Rice 6'3" | RS Edmond Santa Fe | 2025 State OK #8, Outside Hitter for OK Charge 16UA. She played middle this past school season and I thought dominated in most matches. So I was intrigued to see her hitting outside this club season. BUT she is still killing it, literally getting kills! She has such power in her swing that even when a block or passer is lined up well, it may still not be enough. Tack on her size and blocking ability, she can really slow down opposing right side hitters. Two more years of Anna hitting the ball in the ground, may result in courts needing repaired earlier than expected.
Saylor Paden Saylor Paden 5'7" | S Weatherford | 2025 State OK #10, Setter for Rise 16-1. I had only heard of Saylor before this club season. Luckily, with my previous coaching experience out west, I had a heads up of this diamond in the rough. She has great hands and great technique early in her career. Hopefully I can catch a tournament next season and see how much she is able to impact her school team.
East Side:
Alison Dotolo Alison Dotolo 5'6" | DS/L Booker T Washington | 2025 State OK #17, Libero for TPV 16-1. I got to see her play for the first time last season while playing for BTW. She has great instincts and has grown exponentially by playing on this high level club team. Constantly competing against one another in practice and playing in big time tournaments is going to lead to a huge spike in attention this upcoming school season. Colleges should be putting her down as a player to keep on their radar going forward.
Jayden Smith #17, Outside Hitter for Virago 16-1. Jayden leads her team in kills and has spurts of serving runs that really put pressure on defense. She transitions quickly to always be an option for the offense. She also has a nasty tip that is well hidden until the last second. She has added the ability to go line with some power over the past year. This has opened up even more of the court for her to score. Look for her to have a big year for Sand Springs this upcoming season.
Camryn Liechti #8, Right Side/Setter for OK Redline 16-1. Cam has helped her team win each and every year she plays club. She was a huge part of BAVC and now for Redline. She has amazing control in her attacks and can mix them up well. I have seen her set at times and does well but where she really stands out is hitting. Particularly well from the right side. Not many teams possess solid right side attacks, so defenses aren’t use to seeing and playing that angle.
