Continue ReadingThe Madtown Festival is a new 2-day tournament that is quite impressive in its first year. Top talent from Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois descended on Madison for the tournament. The 15 Open division had numerous stand-out athletes who caught my eye.
Allison was all over the court today. She ran down tough balls and was fearless on defense. She was aggressive with her choices. I saw her take an approach and swing off of a misplaced out-of-system set. I don’t even know where she came from! Allision is a powerhouse hitter who was simply impressive in all six rotations.
Bobbi is a high-flying pin. She has crazy hang time in the air and is always pushing boundaries with her swings. When she connects on a perfect set, she is lethal. Bobbi is aggressive at the net and is a disciplined blocker. She impressed me with her ability to take big swings in big moments.
Highlights
Emily is a setter with a great touch on the ball. She is tough to read, especially on her tempo jump sets. She has a quick, clean release on the ball and keeps all of her hitters involved. Emily’s ball control is solid and her defense is gritty.
Highlights
Avery is an incredibly talented lefty-right side. She is a go-to hitter for Sky High 15 Elite. When she is in the front row, she manufactures points. She can swing on both pins and is just a dominant force. She also puts up a wall of a block that is tough for opposing hitters to push past.
Highlights
Mia is a huge leader and energizer on the court. Her competitive mindset sets her apart from other athletes in her class. She is a talented setter whose physical abilities, coupled with her leadership skills, make her a must-have setter. She ran the offense well today and always worked hard to keep balls alive.
Alison Coy

Alison is another dominant right-side hitter who was nearly unstoppable today at Madtown Festival. She took big swings and put up an even bigger block. Alison was an impact player for Fusion and, I am sure, will continue to impress in bracket play on Sunday.
Skylar is an offensive weapon in the front row. She has an explosive approach, a huge vertical, and a powerful arm swing. She was a dominant force on offense and was a go-to hitter. She takes great swings both in and out of system and converted a lot of points for 1st Alliance today.
Highlights
Molly impressed me with her nearly impenetrable block. She was everywhere across the net and stopped a lot of talented hitters in their tracks. She kept the pressure on opposing teams with her contributions on both offense and defense.

Madison is an elite-level pin hitter. She is already incredibly talented and is a dominant athlete on the court. Her swings pack a punch and can be momentum changers in tight matches. She goes big on every swing and manufactures points from both pins.
Molly is technically a Wisconsin athlete but plays for VC United , so I have included her here. She has a high volleyball IQ. She can set and play on the right side. Her potential is nearly limitless, and her play is disciplined yet aggressive. She is a fun athlete to watch and one I can’t wait to see continuing to make an impact throughout this tournament and the rest of the season.
