This is widely regarded as one of the toughest qualifiers of the year in the nation due to the strength of the teams in the lone star state and also because of the teams who travel from all over the country to play in it. We were lucky enough to be able to watch the elite competition over all three days and are starting this series of articles on players that stood out to us for various reasons. Here are a few of them:
Madison Victoriano Madison Victoriano 5'9" | S Centennial | 2026 State TX [2026] 5-9 Setter (HS: Centennial/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Madison is currently ranked as the 57th best overall prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Centennial High School and also for the Dallas Skyline volleyball program. I have been watching Miss Victoriano and her amazing team since the first Tour of Texas stop this season and she continues to impress me with her individual play on the court. Her size and frame allow her to stay on the court in the front row if needed. This can be seen in the school season where she also hits while in the front row. She has a fantastic ability to be pinpoint accurate with both her serves and set location. While I watched them play, her serve stifled the opposing receivers multiple times. It led to them being out of system. As a setter, I love how the ball comes off of her hands with such a quick release. It doesn’t stick long and that adds so much pace to the ball being delivered. Some things that truly stick out to me while watching her compete are how she always has such great posture at contact of the ball and how she holds her release after contact. This will help to keep her very consistent throughout her career.
Sarah Mendoza Sarah Mendoza 5'7" | DS/L Colleyville Heritage | 2025 State TX [2025] 5-7 Libero (HS: Southlake Carroll/Club: Drive Nation/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Sarah is currently an unranked 82nd best overall prospect according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings in the 2025 class. She plays at Southlake Carroll High School and also for the Drive Nation club program. When you watch Sarah play the libero position, you see a warrior who has only one thing on her mind…winning. She is a player who you would want with you if you were trapped behind enemy lines at war. She always has her hardcore game face on and is completely focused on winning the rally. Her defensive posture never changes while she is moving to the ball or at contact, which I love about her. She understands the principles behind why it will help her and has been trained very well at it. Miss Mendoza is always in a great position to play the ball on defense because she keeps her eyes on the opposition and can anticipate where the ball will go. Fast footwork is also another reason why she is always able to touch the ball and keep it alive for her squad. In this tournament, when I watched, she has proven herself to be capable of moving up the state rankings when I update them in a few months.
Logan Wiley [2024] 6-2 Middle (HS: Alpharetta/Club: A5/Verbal: Georgia Tech)
Logan is currently an unranked prospect according to our Prep Dig National Rankings in the 2024 class, but that might change during the next update due to how well she has been playing. She plays at Alpharetta High School and also plays club for the nationally recognized A5 volleyball program. I have watched this young lady play for a few years now and she is still very dominant. Miss Wiley is verbally committed to playing volleyball at Georgia Tech in a few years and will be a game-changer for their program when she arrives on campus. Her ability to move laterally across the net while blocking is astounding. Many players have the ability to jump and hit above the net, but Logan is on another level. Her vertical makes her scary to go up against, but her talented arm swing is a whole different story. This young lady can bring the pain with the best of them on quick attacks. She is capable of running every route on the middle route tree with pace and explosiveness. She is one huge reason why her squad has been one of the best teams in their age group over the course of their career.
