The Motor City Madness Showcase took place last Friday in Pontiac.

It was a great opportunity for prospects looking to get a few more college eyes on them.

The Class of 2025 was the largest group at the showcase and each prospect brought strengths to the court.

Here's a look at Part 1 of our 2025 player evaluations.

Sydney Bergsma, OH Zeeland West/FaR Out

Sydney Bergsma

Bergsma showed good arm speed on her swings. She was able to dial up her attacks to another level and showed a nice long swing that could get to the sets at a high point. As she continues to sharpen her defensive ability, it will make Bergsma a solid six-rotation option.

Jadeyn Bisdorf, S L'Anse Creuse North/Crank It

Bisdorf looked very relaxed and comfortable on the court. That allowed her to consistently make easy sets for her hitters to pound. She has nice loft on her feeds to the outside and is able to connect quickly with her middles.

Abby Churches, OH Brighton/Michigan Elite

Churches plays hard and showed the ability to make plays defensively and offensively. Her wind up on her swings is technically sound and she's able to really power through the ball on her delivery. Defensively, she's able to make smooth passes from awkward angles.

Sarah DeMaagd, RS Gull Lake/USA Michigan

DeMaagd showed a lot of potential for being an impact six-rotation player. Though listed as just a right side, she looked more than capable with her defensive instincts and blocking. One area I was impressed with DeMaagd was the velocity she was able to put on her back row swings.

[player_tooltip player_id='261180' first='Korin' last='Hutton'], S Anchor Bay/Michigan Elite

[player_tooltip player_id='261180' first='Korin' last='Hutton']

Hutton fit the bill of a court leader quite well during the showcase. She was a very vocal and supportive player throughout each session and there was a drive and eagerness to make plays. Her setting was consistent, but her effort and energy on defense is what helped her stand out as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='261122' first='Alyssa' last='Jasman'], DS/L Canton/Michigan Elite

Jasman was a composed defender that didn't ever let herself get rattled. Her positioning and feel for the court was a strength. Jasman was able to read swings and serves well, knowing when to let them pass as they narrowly went out of bounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='261207' first='Sharayna' last='Luckie'], DS/L Lutheran High North/Great Lakes VC

Luckie was a good energy player that worked to improve with each rep. She learned from any mistakes and corrected them quickly. As the play intensified later in the showcase, Luckie really started to shine. She was able to make some impressive dives and sprawls to make difficult digs. Luckie showed the drive and determination to be a great defender.

Alexandra Mazzola, DS/L Stoney Creek/High Performance

Mazzola looked a little unsure of herself in the beginning, but once she got into the swing of the showcase, she showed she can be a top player. Mazzola has fast feet and she can cover a lot of ground in the back row very quickly. She also is a scrappy player that was willing to take on bumps and bruises to make a play.

The Motor City Madness Showcase took place last Friday in Pontiac.
