They don’t call it Motor City Madness for nothing!
This weekend didn’t pull any punches when it came to the madness that occurred in the gym! Some of the top talent around Michigan and across the boarder were on tap for this weekend’s showcase. These players brought the heat!
Here are some of the showcase’s top pins!
Jillian Ferrill Jillian Ferrill 6'1" | OH Lake Fenton | 2026 State MI – Lake Fenton/High Performance
While signed up as a setter, I was really wow’d by the arm on this one! Ferrill is a total package to contend with, with her multifaceted playing style. Ferrill can run a well-oiled machine, while throwing in some bombs of her own. Definitely an underrated gem in the 2026 class.
Abigail Wutka Abigail Wutka 5'11" | OH Macomb Dakota | 2025 State MI – Dakota/Michigan Elite
Wutka did not come to mess around at the Madness showcase! I was seeing some heat out of this player like I had never seen before. Wutka is a growing talent in a deep pool of 2025s from Michigan!
Carly Zibell Carly Zibell 5'10" | RS Lake Orion | 2025 State MI – Lake Orion/High Performance
One of the few true right sides to attend the showcase, Zibell knew how to make a statement or two! A mighty lefty attacker, Zibell was showing the guns and putting up some great touches off the block.
Kayla Mulder – Whitehall/MVA
One of the few west side products, I was pretty intrigued with what they had to offer! Mulder had a strong showing this weekend at both the showcase and throughout the tournament. She’s a steady attacker and plays a solid all-around game.
Kora Nicolanti Kora Nicolanti 5'10" | OH Bloomfield Hills | 2024 State MI – Bloomfield Hills/Unified
I am always a fan of seeing Nicolanti in action. Every time I have seen Nicolanti, she’s always got a new trick up her sleeve and bringing on a little more heat on the ball than I last saw. She’s a natural leader on the court with a lot of energy and big plays.
Jackie Scheiber Jackie Scheiber 6'0" | S Riverview | 2024 State MI – Riverview/Michigan Elite
Here comes the boom! Here comes Jackie Scheiber Jackie Scheiber 6'0" | S Riverview | 2024 State MI ! This player did not come to play, she came to dominate! Scheiber is a jack of all trades, and I have seen her do just about everything. She was definitely proving her worth as an attacker on Friday.
Sydney Bergsma – Zeeland West/FaR Out
Another west side product, Bergsma is a new name on my radar and now a name I’ll be keeping tabs on going forward. Bergsma has a nice wind up arm swing that can pack a good punch if you so happen to get behind her ball.
Jonae Swift – Cass Tech/Legacy
I haven’t seen much of this athlete before coming into the weekend, and needless to say, I like what I saw. Swift brings a well rounded game, can play great defense and has a knack for a winning shot.
Nadia Murray – Rochester Adams/High Performance
She may be young, but you do not want to mess with Murray if you see her across the net. She’s very consistent on the left pin and has a strong attack with loaded range of shots.
Hanna Pardon Hanna Pardon 5'9" | OH Ortonville Brandon | 2025 State MI – Brandon/Unified
One of my favorite things about these showcases are finding the hidden gems, Pardon is definitely one of those. Pardon is a very strong all around player, great second ball hands and moves very well around the court.
Sarah DeMaagd – Gull Lake/USA Michigan
Gull Lake is coming off of a program best season this fall and I think they may be onto something more with the emergence of DeMaagd on the right side. DeMaagd is another lefty. She does very well at adjusting to the sets across the net and a nice high finish on the ball that scores very well.
