Since I write for Kansas and Missouri, I sometimes write articles that include coverage of both sides of the state line. Pretty simple. Today we see who has earned bids, upgraded bids, and some athletes have signed or made their college decisions known.
Asics Show Me Qualifier
There were still some 15s playing in Kansas City last week though a couple of divisions played the weekend prior. In the American Division, PVA ‘ last=”] 15 Elite ran the table to win the gold ball and a bid. Lauren Fenemore Lauren Fenemore 5'7" | DS/L Mill Valley | 2026 State KS , Olivia Liertz, and the squad dropped two sets over the three days in an impressive run.
Adidas Windy City Qualifier
In the 16 Open, HPSTL 16 Royal had another great performance with a second-place finish to double qualify after earning a bid at Sunshine Classic previously. Hannah Leftridge Hannah Leftridge 5'10" | OH St. Pius X (Festus) | 2025 State MO , Tara Greenberry Tara Greenberry 6'3" | MB Incarnate Word | 2025 State #117 Nation MO , and company went 7-3 on the weekend.
KC Challenge 17-1 came up one match short of earning a bid after dropping the championship match in three tightly contested sets. HPSTL 17 White ended up third, as they were defeated by KC Challenge in the semifinals.
Two teams from the east side of their respective states upgraded their bids in 17 Open in Chicago. First, Rockwood Thunder 17 Elite who came in holding a Freedom Bid made it all the way to the last match before losing to 1st Alliance. From the east side of Kansas, Mavs KC 17-1 moves up from their American bid to join the Open fray at Nationals. Both Rockwood and Mavs went 2-0 in gold pool play. Mavs were tripped up by 1st Alliance, while Rockwood took down NKYVC 17-1 Tsunami. With Tsunami already holding an open bid, Mavs earn a bid.
Signing and commitment updates
Van Horn and Mizuno Club North standout Sanoma Hunter Sanoma Hunter 6'0" | MB Van Horn | 2023 State MO recently signed to play her college ball at Drury University in Springfield, MO. The 6’1″ middle blocker has been key in the middle for the USA-qualified 18-1 team after a standout high school career. On the other side of the state line, Dynasty 18 Blue and Blue Valley Northwest player Akayla Kador Akayla Kador 5'9" | RS Blue Valley Northwest | 2023 State KS made her pledge to play at Ottawa University in Ottawa, KS.
