Below are some of the players whose stock rose during the club season. The best way to achieve that is to make a significant contribution to a winning team. These players accomplished that feat.

[player_tooltip player_id='233008' first='Greta' last='Barvick'] setter (Blue Ridge) climbed from 24 to 9 (pictured above second from left) - Metro did not play in the Chesapeake Regional Qualifiers because they had won an Open bid in one of the fist qualifiers. That left the field wide open. Blue Ridge won the Regional Qualifiers thanks to the hitting and setting exploits of [player_tooltip player_id='233008' first='Greta' last='Barvick']. The 5'10 setter improved her setting as the year progressed, getting to the point where she consistently jump set the ball when passed near the net. During her high school season she hit left side. She finished fifth in hitting percentage (.407) with only five players ahead of her in number of kills for the state of Virginia. Once she acclimated herself for setting duties the Blue Ridge engine roared. Greta plays right side when not setting and played a critical role in the Blue Ridge offense. She can do it all. Greta has yet to commit to a college. She will be playing in the Northeast Qualifier this weekend in the USA Division.

[player_tooltip player_id='182753' first='Isabel' last='Ostvig'] setter (Virginia Jrs) climbed from 54 to 10 - Another player who impressed me with the quality of her setting. She also liked to jump set and like Greta stayed in the front row because of her ability to hit. At 5'10" she also puts up a good block while in the front row. I can see her setting a 5/1 and picturing defenses scrambling to predict her options. Isabel has committed to UMBC, which could be loaded with local stars [player_tooltip player_id='181205' first='Helen' last='Frankovich'] and [player_tooltip player_id='181201' first='Hannah' last='Howard'], two highly ranked 2023s also committing there. Isabel will also be playing in the USA Division of the Northeast Qualifiers in Philly this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='235282' first='Adriana' last='Perodin'] left side (Paramount) climbed from 35 to 20 - Sometimes it can take one good game at a big point in time to shoot you up in the rankings. At the 16 Chesapeake Regional Qualifiers Adriana stood out as the main hitting force for Paramount as they battled to a second place finish to earn a bid to Junior Nationals. She stands only 5'8" but she brings a good vertical that allows her to hit the ball past most blocks. She also plays a scrambling defense in the back row. Adriana has yet to commit. She will be playing in the Open Division of the Northeast Qualifiers in Philly in the 16 Division.

[player_tooltip player_id='243772' first='Charizma' last='Lofton'] left side (Virginia Jrs) climbed from 67 to 33 - She moves quickly on the court, whether transitioning to hit or moving to a ball on defense. Her strength is her ability to play quality six rotation ball. Virginia Jrs. carried a number of outside hitters on their roster so playing time had to be shared. She made the most of it whenever she got the call to perform on the court. The Cedar Run District voted her to the first team. Charizma has yet to commit. You will get a two for one package as she will be playing with [player_tooltip player_id='182753' first='Isabel' last='Ostvig'] this weekend at the Northeast Qualifiers in the USA Division.

[player_tooltip player_id='209795' first='Harlan' last='Wyche'] middle (Paramount) climbed from 45 to 35 - Harlan has grown to 5'11". She brings a long wingspan to the game creating an approach jump that reaches 10'1". She serves well and moves smoothly when playing back row. It makes you wonder whether she could play six rotations if moved to a pin. For her high school they list her as an outside/middle. She appears to have the athletic ability to play left side. Never have seen her pass the ball in serve receive, at least not since she was 13 years old. Harlan has yet to commit.

[player_tooltip player_id='180303' first='Karen' last='Cao'] libero (Virginia Elite) climbed from 90 to 40 - Karen spent a couple years with Metro as a back row player but never really got an opportunity for playing time. Virginia Elite uses her as the libero. She has taken over the position and plays it well. A very athletic girl who showed she could set early in her career. At 5'4" her best position may be back row. Karen has also not committed. She will be playing this weekend in the JVA World Challenge in Louisville, Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='237239' first='Azavia' last='Thomas'] left side (Virginia Elite) climbed from 86 to 49 - She played high school for Archbishop Carroll, who for the most part finish in the last three spots in the WCAC standings. At 6'4" she towers over most of the competition. Last year for travel ball she played for a club's third team. This year she moved up to Virginia Elite where she mostly plays left side and is limited to the front row. She can hit it over and through many blocks using her height. Her approach jump reaches 10 feet, the highest on the team. Azavia has not committed yet. As with [player_tooltip player_id='180303' first='Karen' last='Cao'] she will be playing this weekend at the JVA World Challenge in Louisville, Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='242126' first='Isha' last='Uppalli'] libero (DMV Elite) climbed from 96 to 51 - Loved the anticipation and quick movements of Isha at the libero position. Saw a little bit of her when she played for her Rock Ridge high school team. Saw more of her at the Harbor tournament in DC. The Dulles District voted her to the second team as a defensive specialist. She brings a strong serve to the court as well as excellent back row play. Isha has yet to commit. She will be playing in Philly this weekend at the Northeast Qualifiers in the USA Division.

[player_tooltip player_id='181240' first='Natalie' last='Carlin'] libero (Paramount) climbed from 95 to 65 - At the Chesapeake Regionals she played the libero position for Paramount. She did everything you want to see in a libero and she did it well. Natalie has not yet committed to a college.
