I end up deeming these players under the radar or hidden gems because we knew something but possibly not everything about their ability. Each time we update we home we get more and more information in the process. You will typically see these athletes increase their standing in the rankings. So, here are some uncommitted and hidden gems discovered from the Class of 2024 Ranking update.
I haven’t found a current club for Hanson but her school highlights have me really hoping she has been continuing the work over the winter because there is a lot of potential there. She has a natural fast swing and finds the split in the block. Hanson keeps decent space with the net and sees the block in order to work around them.
Knake attended one of our showcases and we actually had her twice in our database. I’m glad I had a chance to watch a little more in depth film on her because she is an explosive attacker from either pin. She takes a big aggressive approach, gets that arm up early and ready to pull the trigger. When the time is just right she let’s it rip with a solid contact and a fast swing. Knake can hit all the angles, deep corners, and use the block to score at will. She does a great job lining up and setting the block. Knake’s quickness is also shown in her off-blocker defense.
Peters takes a really heavy swing. She contacts on top of the ball and slices around or over the block. I saw her last club season playing just middle but when I caught some video I saw her take some ridiculous swings from both pins which prompted me to raise her ranking. Peters also brought a great presence to our last MN Top 250 Expo that definitely helped raise her stock. I love an athlete that is versatile!
Highlights
Is there anything Gospodarek can’t do? She’s a gritty defender, super athletic and fast moving setter, and she can get a kill from anywhere on the court. Middle attack? No problem, she’ll put in the corners. From the left pin? Sure, she’ll take some fingers off the blockers in the process. Right pin? I hope you love the deep cross corner shot as much as I do.
Well, it’s safe to say Northern Lights is stacked with setters in this class. Torve is another do-it-all player. She does a great job putting up the high ball for her pins and then she has a really great connection with her middles. Anything that ends with Torve and a middle is gold.
