It’s every players’ dream of putting on the jersey of their dream school. For these 2023 and 2024 kids, this dream has become a near reality this fall.
These last few weeks have been abundant of big announcements. The hunt for nearly all of the 2023 class has concluded and they will be off to their next adventure in the fall. For the 2024s, many have found that perfect fit and will be taking their talents to the next level.
Let’s take a look at just where the top athletes in Michigan found their calling these last few weeks.
Kendall Hopewell Kendall Hopewell 6'1" | MB Forest Hills Northern | 2024 State #193 Nation MI to Northern Kentucky
6’0 MB/OPP – Forest Hills Northern/FaR Out
One of the latest commitments, this one is an exciting one. Hopewell is coming off of a huge Junior campaign thats included a Division 1 Semifinal appearance with Forest Hills Northern and most recently, an Emperor Cup Championship with FaR Out late April. She’s one of the most explosive players out of the middle and right side. Hopewell then can bring the plays in the back court with top notch passing and defense. With Hopewell on roster, Northern Kentucky is easily a Horizon League contender.
Ella McAllister Ella McAllister 5'4" | DS/L Marshall | 2023 State MI to Lipscomb
5’5 L – Marshall/FaR Out
Lipscomb has had quite the success with their recruits out of the Mitten state. Future teammate Jada DiVita was doing big numbers for them this past fall and McAllister could easily step in and do the same. A part of the 18 Premier National Championship winning team with FaR Out, McAllister is accustomed to winning. Look for McAllister to bring those winning ways down to Nashville for the next few years.
Sophie Crawford Sophie Crawford 6'1" | S Gull Lake | 2024 State MI to Miami (OH)
6’1 S – Gull Lake/Dead Frog
This is a big get for Miami (OH). Sophie Crawford Sophie Crawford 6'1" | S Gull Lake | 2024 State MI has arguably been one of the most underrated players in the 2024 class in Michigan. Standing at 6’1, Crawford brings a lot of physicality to the position. She’s got a great eye for not only her offense but the opponent’s defense. Miami (OH) has gone through a rough couple of seasons since Covid, the addition of Crawford shows great signs of change.
Kate Maley Kate Maley 6'1" | RS Skyline | 2024 State #153 Nation MI to Loyola-Chicago
6’0 OPP – Ann Arbor Skyline/Legacy
Seeing Kate Maley Kate Maley 6'1" | RS Skyline | 2024 State #153 Nation MI ‘s stock rise over the last few years has been super impressive. Particularly this year, Maley has had to come into her own and showing a lot of promise of what she could do at the next level. Maley leads Legacy in scoring on the right pin and has the ability to play six rotations at a high level. Loyola-Chicago is coming off of an A10 Championship and NCAA Tournament berth, something to be expected more often with Maley on roster.
Ashlee Gnau Ashlee Gnau 5'8" | DS/L Northville | 2024 State MI to Syracuse
5’5 L – Northville/Legacy
This is quite the get for Syracuse and Gnau. Gnau has consistently been an impact DS for both Northville and Legacy for the last several seasons. She fits the role perfect to come in and tighten up the reception and add depth on defense. With the ACC on the rise as of late, this is a great get for Syracuse as they look to remain amongst the top in this growing conference.
