It’s every players’ dream of putting on the jersey of their dream school. For these 2023 and 2024 kids, this dream has become a near reality this fall.
These last few weeks have been abundant of big announcements. The hunt for nearly all of the 2023 class has concluded and they will be off to their next adventure in the fall. For the 2024s, many have found that perfect fit and will be taking their talents to the next level.
Let’s take a look at just where the top athletes in Michigan found their calling these last few weeks.
Johanna Tillman Johanna Tillman 6'2" | MB Dakota | 2024 State MI to Grand Valley State
6’1 MB – Dakota/Michigan Elite
She’s been one of the top prospects from Michigan for the 2024 class for quite some time now. Tillman is another big time get for Laker Nation following the commitment of L Olivia Behen Olivia Behen 5'5" | DS/L Saline | 2024 State MI . Tillman can be quite troublesome at the net. As a steady attacker, her blocking is some of the best in the field of blockers for her class.
Cameron Herman Cameron Herman 5'11" | OH Hartland | 2024 State MI to Michigan Tech
5’11 OH – Hartland/L2
The GLIAC just continues to reel in the Michigan 2024s. For Michigan Tech, they have their sights set on Herman. Tech is coming off of some good seasons within this power conference. With a pick up like Herman, they are surely going to continue to be in conversation to be amongst the top of the GLIAC.
Jenna Southland Jenna Southland 6'1" | MB Three Rivers | 2024 State MI to Hillsdale College
5’11 MB – Three Rivers/FaR Out
A former GLIAC powerhouse, Hillsdale is now a G-MAC power player and remains to be amongst the top programs in Division II volleyball. It looks they won’t skip a beat either with a get like Southland either. From the FaR Out cannon, Southland comes in well-trained and full of championship worthy experience that will do her well for the Chargers.
Avry Nelson Avry Nelson 6'3" | MB Northville | 2024 State MI to Eckerd College
6’3 MB – Northville/Legacy
I’ve been wondering where this player will go. Eckerd College wasn’t on my bingo card, but its a great get for both Eckerd and Nelson! In one of the toughest conferences in Division II volleyball, Eckerd is in perennial contention for the Sunshine State title. They’re coming off of an NCAA tournament berth that nearly saw them in the second round, just missing by a 16-14 decision in a five setter. Nelson’s size and unforeseeable ceiling will do Eckerd huge when she arrives to campus.
Margaret Hilliard Margaret Hilliard 6'3" | S Cranbrook | 2024 State MI to Baldwin Wallace
6’3 S – Cranbrook/Michigan Elite
Look out for Baldwin Wallace in the Division III scene! With a pickup like this, I could see some big things happening down in Berea, OH. Not only do the Hornets get a great pair of hands, but they pick up some serious size at the net. Hilliard runs the offense for one of the best teams in the Premier division this season with Michigan Elite 17 Elite. I could see Hilliard turning BWC into a powerhouse when she arrives on campus.
