In case you missed it, we got the conversation started yesterday with Part 1 of our series covering additions to our latest list. That feature covered some incredible gems from around Nebraska’s prep landscape, but we’re only just getting started.
On to Part 2!
Kawa charged into our 2024 rankings with a series of standout performances in late-season action. With another impressive outing at the Great Plains Bid Tournament last month, there was little doubt about this libero’s worthiness to join the fray. Keep an eye on Kawa’s impact for an ever-evolving Elkhorn South roster this fall.
Rippen continues our long run of small-town gems in these 2024 features. This multi-sport standout took a big step forward with McCook last fall and pitched in with nearly 200 kills to her credit. She’s back to making a similar impact with Nebraska Pride Black 17s, where Rippen can readily rotate between playing outside hitter and middle blocker.
Get used to seeing Nebraska Pride on this feature. Ahlemeyer has been a vital piece to the team’s backcourt this year, and her wide array of skills is a testament to her natural athletic ability. The Cambridge native is also a standout on the softball diamond, so Ahlemeyer is certainly not opposed to having a busy spring.
Craft joins Kawa as another new addition from Club Legacy’s strong libero unit. On the prep side, we’re looking forward to seeing the evolution of Millard South with under-the-radar gems like Craft factoring into the program’s success. This year’s club season serves as a good launching point to Craft’s upcoming senior campaign.
Now, we return to Nebraska Pride for a little more representation from outside the big cities. Fetty has been a regular contributor with Sandhills Valley since her freshman debut and has recorded triple-digit kills in her past two seasons. Her improving lethality in the middle offers reason to believe that Fetty’s swan song season could be her finest year yet.
Banzai VBC has undoubtedly stockpiled some talent from the Papio schools. Moone has become yet another example of that pipeline, and her versatility has been a major advantage for 17 Select this spring. She’s listed as a right side here but could easily play a variety of other roles, including in the ball control phase.
Highlights
South Central gets back in the mix with a frontcourt hitter who is quickly making gains this year. Reilly has stuffed the stat sheet throughout her prep career as a go-to attacker for Ord, and the same can be said of her latest reps for 17 Black. Clearly, our theme of small-town talents factoring heavily in these rankings updates is already panning out.
Seim boasts a combination of length and fluidity that’s hard to miss. She was the most consistent scorer for Lexington last fall and has experienced a solid surge in production with Nebraska Pride. Small-town gems are lurking everywhere across the Cornhusker State, and Seim adds to our growing list. Expect this senior class to produce plenty of memorable moments before this year is done.
Cambridge claims more contributions to the 2024 rankings with Springer joining the fray. She’s been a reliable middle blocker on the high school side who comfortably eclipsed 100 kills in her junior season. Having some year-round teammate synergy on Nebraska Pride Black 17s doesn’t hurt, either.
Lastly, let’s tie it all together with one of Nebraska Pride Black 17s’s standout setters. Wiese hails from Loomis High School, where she has proven her athletic aptitude in more sports than just volleyball. If you haven’t already figured it out, we’re excited about the kind of production that Nebraska Pride’s athletes can offer in club as well as high school venues.
