Among Class 4A schools there were more than 20 players who finished with 100 or more kills during their junior seasons.
Here is the second scouting report covering five players from Class 4A schools who finished with kill totals of more than 100 during the 2022 season. Each of these athletes is in the class of 2024 and are college level prospects.
Rayah Foltz Rayah Foltz 5'9" | OH Eudora | 2024 State KS , 5’10”, OH/DS, Eudora
Foltz finished her junior season with 229 kills. Foltz has a solid combination of size and the ability to elevate. She is a potential six-rotation player as she also had 182 digs for the Cardinals. Foltz plays club ball for KC Challenge.
Callie Powell Callie Powell 5'10" | OH Abilene | 2024 State KS , 5’10”, OH, Abilene
Powell finished with 225 kills during the 2022 season. Powell knows how to finish attacks and adjust to imperfect passes. She also had 222 digs for Abilene during her junior season. Powell plays club ball with the Manhattan Mayhem.
Jaycie Theis, 5’10”, OH/RS, Pratt
Theis finished her junior campaign with 219 kills. She also had 252 digs. She has a dangerous serve which accounted for 53 aces for the Greenbacks. Theis is a multiple-sport athlete who plays guard for the Pratt basketball team and plays softball for the Greenbacks.
Mikinzi Smoots Mikinzi Smoots 5'8" | OH Tonganoxie | 2024 State KS , 5’8”, OH/DS, Tonganoxie
Smoots accumulated 203 kills for the Chieftains in 2022. She has a compact swing and is more of a jumper than relying on a big reach. Smoots’ future at the collegiate level might be at defensive specialist as she also finished with 236 digs during her junior season.
Corinne Donnenwerth, 5’5”, RS/S, Pratt
Donnenwerth is Pratt’s second player to make this list. She finished with 137 kills during her junior season. She can play multiple positions as she finished with 216 assists as a setter during the 2022 season. She makes consistent passes on both the volleyball and basketball courts. She plays guard on her high school team and can shoot from deep.
