Continue ReadingThis past weekend was the OKRVA Regional Championships. Almost every age had a “bid” division and a “Club” division. Those competing in the BID division, were in search of finishing high enough to keep their season alive and grab an elusive national tournament bid. Some teams already earned their bid at a national qualifier earlier in the season. Therefore those teams tend to skip this tournament, such as, TPV 16-1, UPVBC 17 Elite, and Peak 15-1. We are going to take a look at some awesome players from the 14s division all the way to the 17s division this week. We will work our way up, starting with the youngest group first.
Top 8:
Gold Champion- OK Charge 15UA
2nd Place- TPV 15-1
3rd- Peak 15-2
4th- OK Charge 15 National
5th- Virago 15-1
6th- Rise 15-1
7th- Club Ace 15 Black/UPVBC 15 Elite
Players:
Taylor Woods- Right Side Hitter #12 for OK Charge 15UA. She is an impact player for this team. When she subs into the game, instant energy and point production! Her vertical and reach point help her be dominate both as a blocker and as a hitter. Her blocks and kills are typically thunderous and get the whole team pumped up. She also possess the heart of a competitor. You can see the focus and the tenacity she has when she is on the court. Look for Taylor to shine bright this upcoming school season.
Olivia Brand Olivia Brand 5'7" | OH Coweta | 2025 State OK – Outside Hitter #5 for Virago 15-1. Olivia played up on the 15-1 team last year and stayed to her true age division this year. In do so, she is shining bright and standing out. Her early years as a libero have made her a 6 rotation threat. Her hitting in system vs out of system don’t look massively different. She takes big swings and tools the block more often than not. Her serve receive and digging are both a thing of beauty. She does a great job of squaring up and softening the touch off her platform.
Kamryn Collins Kamryn Collins 5'7" | OH Cache | 2026 OK – Outside Hitter #15 for OK Charge 15 National. We wrote about Kamryn last week as her and her team played up in the 16s division at Volley Palooza and won the championship. She stood out last week and continued to do at regionals this weekend. She transitions and approaches so aggressively that this is where her power and availability are largely derived from. She will be a standout in southwest Oklahoma for the next few years.
Savanah Wright- Setter #3 for Virago 15-1. I have written about Savanah on multiple occasions this club season. She is truly someone that has grown a ton this year and really impressed me. This weekend she stood out and provided a huge boost for her team when it was needed most. Between her serve, hitting that short ball and disrupting middle’s hitting paths or her great decision making when setting to get her hitters a 1v1 situation to score. She was a big part of why this team finished with only 1 loss and finished top 5.
Wrap Up:
