Continue ReadingThis past weekend was the OKRVA Regional Championships. Almost every age had a “bid” division and a “Club” division. Those competing in the BID division, were in search of finishing high enough to keep their season alive and grab an elusive national tournament bid. Some teams already earned their bid at a national qualifier earlier in the season. Therefore those teams tend to skip this tournament, such as, TPV 16-1, UPVBC 17 Elite, and Peak 15-1. We are going to take a look at some awesome players from the 14s division all the way to the 17s division this week. We will work our way up, starting with the 14s and ending with 17s.
Top 8:
Gold Champion- OK Charge 15UA
2nd Place- TPV 15-1
3rd- Peak 15-2
4th- OK Charge 15 National
5th- Virago 15-1
6th- Rise 15-1
7th- Club Ace 15 Black/UPVBC 15 Elite
Players:
Eyiloluwafe Adedeji- Middle Blocker #1 for OK Charge 15UA. She was on FIRE at regionals. I saw one rally during the championship match that featured her being set 3 straight quick sets in the middle and TPV was able to make two great digs but couldn’t fend off the 3rd and final ball. When her and teammate Taylor Woods are blocking an outside hitter, it is a near impenetrable wall! Her size and athleticism catch your eye but her power and energy keep you hooked. I got a feeling she will be making a HUGE splash this school season.
Ana Appel Ana Appel S Victory Christian | 2026 OK – Setter #4 for TPV 15-1. Ana did a great job last school season and was very impressive as a freshman. She is so fast and has a great read on passes, she can get her hands on nearly every ball. Its not just being fast though, its efficient footwork as well. After this club season, She looks extremely confident in her position and as a team leader. I think this will prove to an extremely valuable takeaway for the rest of her career. Her and VC will be back in the state tournament this next season with her at the helm.
Karis Abiseid Karis Abiseid 5'2" | DS/L Edmond Memorial | 2026 OK – Defensive Specialist #17 for Peak 15-2. Karis got some playing time last season on a very talented school team. She has gotten even better at making big plays against big hitters. Her ability to cover ground and get a good jump on swings, takes away a lot of court. This is someone I think will be quietly be a cornerstone of another state run that may end in another title.
Ruby Farris- Outside Hitter #15 for Peak 15-2. Speaking of big hitters and big moments. Ruby is that type of player for Peak 15-2. She doesn’t flinch when the ball is set her way and the team needs a big point. I was very impressed with her first step in transition after a block. She turns and burns to make herself an option for her team. She was a huge part of why her team was able to finish 3rd and punch their ticket to nationals.
Wrap Up:
We had an amazing club season here in Oklahoma. We qualified 23 girls indoor teams from ages 14 through 18. That list will be available on OKRVA website, as well as, what tournament they earned it at. Those headed to nationals- Congrats, safe travels and we know you will represent us well. To those whos season came to a close- Great job this year! We all have taken strides forward and had many laughs along the way.
