This past weekend was the OKRVA Regional Championships. Almost every age had a "bid" division and a "Club" division. Those competing in the BID division, were in search of finishing high enough to keep their season alive and grab an elusive national tournament bid. Some teams already earned their bid at a national qualifier earlier in the season. Therefore those teams tend to skip this tournament, such as, TPV 16-1, UPVBC 17 Elite, and Peak 15-1. We are going to take a look at some awesome players from the 14s division all the way to the 17s division this week. We will work our way up, starting with the youngest group first.

Top 8:

Gold Champion- Peak 17-1

2nd Place- OK Charge 17UA

3rd- TPV 17-1

4th- Rise 17-1

5th- OK Charge 17UA East

6th- Peak 17-2

7th- UPVBC 17 Pink/OK Charge 17 National

Players:

[player_tooltip player_id='156859' first='Landry' last='Braziel']- Outside Hitter #7 for Peak 17-1. Landry is still doing Landry things. Her and Peak 17-1 DOMINATED regionals. They outscored their opponents 350-133 in total. There was not 1 team that was able to hand 20 points in a set against Peak. In pool play, no team was able to hang 20 points on them in a whole match. Nobody could find an answer for Landry's power on the pin. Her ability to swing with power consistently sets her apart from most other hitters. She puts pressure on defenses no matter where the set is. She is a cornerstone for this team that finished ranked top 100 in the nation. Her senior year is something you wont want to miss.

[player_tooltip player_id='145995' first='Raegan' last='Vernon']- Setter #21 for OK Charge 17UA East. Raegan has done a great job this season at the helm of this new club and team. Her team finished with only 1 loss on the weekend and 5th overall. She has great leadership qualities and that is vital for setters. Add that to her physical skills she possess and you have a player you want on your team. Her serve puts teams in bad positions early in a rally and her abilities to find her middles in transition makes her an all around playmaker.

Laney Hammond- Defensive Specialist #3 for TPV 17-1. Laney was a huge add to this squad. Her ability to take away court both in transition defense and in serve receive, gives her offense lots of good options. This stems from her ability to get squared up and get there early. She has played with and against plenty of top level players, this iron sharpening iron has paid off well for Laney. She was a huge reason was ranked top 500 in the nation. She will be a big time player the rest of her high school career.

[player_tooltip player_id='200523' first='Ashleigh' last='Graves']- Middle Blocker #17 for OK Charge 17 National. Ashleigh shined last club and school season. She has continued to grind and better herself. Her shot making ability and decision making have helped her take her game to another level. I am hoping to catch one of her high school matches this upcoming season and see what new trick she has up her sleeve. Her team's only two losses at regionals were to Peak 1 and 2. They were able to finish tied for 7th.

Wrap Up:

We had an amazing club season here in Oklahoma. We qualified 23 girls indoor teams from ages 14 through 18. That list will be available on OKRVA website, as well as, what tournament they earned it at. Those headed to nationals- Congrats, safe travels and we know you will represent us well. To those whos season came to a close- Great job this year! We all have taken strides forward and had many laughs along the way.
