Prep Dig has once again renewed our partnership with USA Volleyball to run the Pre-Tournament Showcase the day before the tourney starts. It will be held at the McCormick Place Convention Center where the tourney is being held. We are going to be previewing some of the players who have signed up to participate. The one aspect that sets our showcases apart from every other one in the country is how we offer coverage, before, during, and after it is completed. Without further ado, here are a few players who you should be watching at the showcase.
Jayla Jackson Jayla Jackson 5'9" | OH Prosper | 2026 State TX [2026] 5-8 Outside/Middle (HS: Prosper/Club: Texas Advantage Volleyball/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Jayla is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She is a can’t miss attacker who plays at Prosper High School and also plays club for the famed Texas Advantage Volleyball program. I wrote an article about her earlier this year when we saw her at one of our showcases and here is a little from the article, “Everything about this kiddo’s game screams “I got next!”. While she might be a little on the smaller side, don’t sleep on her because she will make you pay in a heartbeat. She has the vertical and power to score at will in bunches. I am not sure that there was a more dynamic attacker on her court other than her. She plays the game with no fear and so much heart.” We have watched her team compete all year and she was fantastic for them. I never expected to see what I saw from her as she played a little bit of almost every position for her squad at one point. Her game is so balanced as she can literally do it all on the court. Every scout who is watching at the showcase will see just how well-rounded her game truly is during all of the individual and scrimmage drills. We cannot wait to have her on the courts to watch such a physically dynamic athlete compete against the best of the best.
Caitlyn McGonigal [2025] 5-9 Setter/Outside (HS: Tatnall/Club: Premier Edge/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Caitlyn is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig State Rankings. She plays volleyball at Tatnall High School and also for Premier Edge out of the Delaware area. During her school season she doubles as a primary left side hitter when she is in the front row and that fascinates me because most setters play right side in the front row. I am very excited to see players who can do multiple things on a volleyball court. In this age of specialization, it truly does help a player’s overall skill set if they are versatile. She has a ton of power in her right arm and she unleashes it at will on the pins. She also plays with a ton of fire and that is something that will translate to creating momentum for any team she is on. Caitlyn spreads the ball around to all of her hitters well to keep the defense honest. Her size and power will show very well against the top competition that is signed up for the showcase and we cannot wait to see her compete. Stay tuned for more on Miss McGonigal
Finley Mcandrew Finley Mcandrew 5'10" | S Valley | 2024 State IA [2024] 5-10 Setter/Right Side (HS: West Des Moines Valley/Club: Ohana/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Finley is currently ranked as the 74th best overall prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Iowa State Rankings. She plays volleyball at West Des Moines Valley High School and club for Ohana. When I watch Finley play, I see a very intelligent player with a very high volleyball IQ. She is very smart with her shots offensively and can read the defense to find the holes in it. In order to do that , she uses hard driven shots and also some very timely off-speed attacks that work like a charm. As a setter, I love how she takes her first step to the ball with her left foot out of serve receive. It is super quick and at a perfect angle towards the ball as she tracks down the pass. Setters who use precise footwork are always very efficient and understand the concepts behind positive and negative footwork. She has the size and power to play at the next level as she can push the ball to any location with ease. There is not a set that she cannot replicate over and over with great pace and location.
