This report focuses on five setters in the Class of 2024 who were among assist leaders in 2022. Each setter in Part One of a two-part report finished with more than 500 digs during their junior seasons.
Adrian Hazelwood Adrian Hazelwood 5'8" | S Smoky Valley | 2024 State KS , 5’7”, S, Smoky Valley
On a two-way street, Hazelwood has been blessed to work with top hitters, and the Viking attackers have been blessed with a setter who can set them up. The Smoky Valley junior finished with 930 assists during the 2022 season. In two seasons as the Vikings’ primary setter, she has racked up 1,876 total assists. Hazelwood also plays a major role on Smoky Valley’s basketball team and could get college offers for both sports. She is currently ranked No. 91 in the Class of 2024 Prep Dig Rankings and No. 54 in the Kansas Prep Girls Hoops rankings.
Kylan Turnipseed, 5’7”, S, Ellsworth
Turnipseed finished her junior season with 746 assists for the Bearcats. In three seasons of varsity action, she has collected 1,444 total assists. The Ellsworth prospect can also be a force at the net as she finished with 30 total blocks during the 2022 season. She is consistent when she sets and makes solid first passes when she is digging or serve receiving.
Addison Goree Addison Goree 5'10" | S Wichita Collegiate | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, S, Collegiate (Wichita)
Goree finished with an impressive total of 628 assists during her junior campaign. She has racked up 1,441 assists during varsity action over the past three seasons. Goree can also contribute as a hitter and tipper as she finished with 113 kills during the 2022 season. She plays club ball with Shockwave Volleyball Academy.
Callie Lane, 5’1”, S, Osage City
Osage City’s Lane finished with 581 assists during her junior season. She is also a solid defensive player as she contributed 581 digs to her stat sheet for the 2022 season. Lane has really long arms and plays under control no matter what role she is playing in the game.
Kinley Porter, 5’5”, S, Rossville
Porter is a six-rotation player for Rossville. She finished her junior season with 524 assists, 332 kills, and 144 digs. Porter can also play outside hitter. She plays club ball with KS Networks and is an accomplished basketball player.
