Continue ReadingUSA Jr Nationals, which will be held in Chicago at the end of June and early July, is the ultimate test to the end of the season as it will bring together all of the teams who have earned a bid to participate. These wonderful teams have proven themselves through a very long and grueling club season and will compete against other top notch teams who have earned the right to play in this prestigious tourney. We will be highlighting teams and individual players that we think you should be watching during the tourney in this series of articles. Let’s take a look at a few names to know!
San Antonio Juniors 17 Adidas will be competing in the USA Division of USA Jr Nationals. They are from the Lone Star Region and have been competing very well in national qualifiers all season long. Here are just a few of the names to know from their talented squad.
Kaylen Lembcke Kaylen Lembcke 6'1" | MB MacArthur | 2024 State TX [2024] 6-1 Middle (HS: MacArthur/Club: SA Juniors/Verbal: St. Edward’s University)
Kaylen is currently ranked as the 104th best overall prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at MacArthur High School and for the amazing San Antonio Juniors club program. Miss Lembcke has committed to St. Edward’s University and will suit up for them in two years. Her long frame and superb power in her upper body makes her a standout in the middle position. She is exactly the type of middle who can take over a game if she needs to. As a blocker at the net, she provides much needed defense in order for this team to compete at a high level. She keeps her hands high while at base and her head on a swivel to track where the ball will go. From an attacker perspective, I love how she can score in a variety of ways out of the middle during quick sets. I have seen her rip balls around the block and also use amazing court vision to see the block in front of her and use some off-speed shots around them.
Vanessa Burton Vanessa Burton 5'10" | S Homeschool | 2024 TX [2024] 5-10 Setter (HS: Homeschool/Club: SA Juniors/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Burton is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but is on our official watch list. She plays club for the awesome San Antonio Juniors volleyball club. Vanessa can deliver to all locations with some great speed. I love how fast the ball comes out of her hands and especially to the right side hitter when she is out of system. It is very beautiful to watch her set the ball “against flow” of the pass. She is also not afraid to battle at the net if need be and can time the block very well to help her team stay competitive. Her leadership on the court can be seen as she plays very hard and leads by example. There is not a set that she cannot hit the target on the bullseye over and over with.
Mya Allen Mya Allen 5'11" | OH Reagan | 2025 State #148 Nation TX [2025] 5-11 Outside (HS: Reagan/Club: San Antonio Juniors /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Miss Allen is currently ranked as the 22nd best overall prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Reagan High School and the San Antonio Juniors volleyball club. Mya is no stranger to nationals as she helped her last year’s team Alamo win the Open National Championship. She is still hungry and ready with her new squad to step back on that podium. Her lights out style of play is very intoxicating to watch as a volleyball enthusiast. As an attacker, this young lady can fly and unleash thunderous attacks on her opponent. There is nothing on the court that this phenom cannot do well. What I like the most about her play is how confident she plays the game. She has that “it factor” that cannot be taught and it is infectious to her teammates. She is a true six-rotation pin who will be starring for some college program in a few years. Give her a look and you will see exactly what I am writing about.
Middle Anais Velazquez is a special talent that is coming into her own this season. She has tons of potential and is a threat to score on quick attacks. Kendall McKee Kendall McKee 5'11" | OH O'Connor | 2024 TX and Giselle Ojeda are two other ballers who can play at a high level. Aniyah Joseph has a cannon for an arm and a full arsenal of weapons to unload on any one who may want a challenge. This team is poised for a great showing and we will be watching closely.
