Continue ReadingUSA Jr Nationals, which will be held in Chicago at the end of June and early July, is the ultimate test to the end of the season as it will bring together all of the teams who have earned a bid to participate. These wonderful teams have proven themselves through a very long and grueling club season and will compete against other top notch teams who have earned the right to play in this prestigious tourney. We will be highlighting teams and individual players that we think you should be watching during the tourney in this series of articles. Let’s take a look at a few names to know!
Vision 15 Gold will be competing in the Open Division of USA Jr Nationals. They are from the Northern California Region and have been competing in the Open division of national qualifiers all season long. They qualified in Open at the Pacific Northwest Qualifier. Here are just a few of the names to know from their talented squad.
Leyna Ngyuen [2025] 5-8 Outside (HS: Archbishop Mitty/Club: Vision/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Leyna is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but that is going to change as soon as I update them next month. She stars on the volleyball court at Archbishop Mitty High School and also plays club for Vision. This young lady is the real deal and will be a serious problem for anyone who sleeps on her height. She will make anyone pay in a hurry as she is the catalyst to this team’s high-powered offense. They will go as far as her talented right arm will take them. The speed at which she plays the game of volleyball is so fun to watch. Just when you think you are looking at an average height left side…boom! She is off of the ground lightning fast and unleashing fury on the ball. Her arm swing is so fast that she routinely scores from tools off of the block. The only way to not lose to her one on one is to not play her one on one. You better have your entire team help you on go against her because she is a load to deal with. There is no way that she doesn’t play division one volleyball in a few years. If you are in the market for a showstopper, give her a look and take a chance on a smaller outside like her and your offense will thank you.
Teagan Cooling Teagan Cooling 6'1" | RS Leigh | 2026 State CA [2026] 6-1 Middle (HS: Leigh/Club: Vision/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Teagan is currently an unranked prospect in the 2026 Class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but is on my watch list after seeing her this season. She plays volleyball at Leigh High School and club for the Vision volleyball program. Miss Cooling is a very talented stopper out of the middle on the defensive side of the net. Her long reach and powerful upper body combine to intimidate the opposition regularly. I love how she keeps her eyes on the prize and stalks her prey well while blocking. The timing she uses while blocking is amazing for a younger player. She is fully capable of running every route on the middle route tree and gets off of the ground in a hurry. I love how Vision uses her regularly on the slide as she can land some devastating blows from it. As an attacker, she gets a lot of power from her down swing and the defense must be in perfect position otherwise they will be in for a lot of trouble trying to slow her down.
Eliot Diehl Palmer Eliot Diehl Palmer 5'11" | RS Archbishop Mitty | 2026 State CA [2026] 5-11 Right Side (HS: Archbishop Mitty/Club: Vision/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Eliot is currently ranked as the 18th best overall prospect in the 2026 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She stars on the court at Archbishop Mitty High School and also for the Vision volleyball club program. Eliot is a hoss on the right side and she can bring the pain big time wither thunderous attacks. Her raw power is on full display for this talented squad in every match and they use her often to keep their opponents honest and not cheating on the left sides. Having a weapon such as her will help this team compete against the best in Chicago. She also has great size to block well since she has to match up with the opposition’s best attackers regularly. She can put up a great wall and keep them at bay due to her strong upper body.
Right side Natalie Monroe Natalie Monroe 6'0" | MB Santa Cruz | 2026 State CA is a lengthy opposite who gives this squad some added firepower along the net. She can also use her long reach to stifle would be attackers. Middle Chelsea Li gets off of the ground super fast for quicks and contributes well on the offensive end. Liberos Kaci Nguyen and Ava Wang Ava Wang 5'4" | DS/L Menlo | 2026 State CA are always low to the ground and doesn’t let anything hit the floor near their zone. They are both prototypical liberos who can clean up any mess and is a solid fail-safe for this team by keeping the ball in play during out of system issues. Setters Gabriella Xiao Gabriella Xiao 5'9" | S Aragon | 2026 State CA and Janelle Legates do a great job of distributing the ball for this stellar squad. Stay tuned for more on this team as we watch them compete in Chicago.
