Yes, many of the athletes are already on my radar, but we rarely see them compete on the same side of the court or without jerseys. This article is dedicated to athletes who have huge potential and really impressed at the Stock Up Showcase.
Gracia first caught my eye earlier in the club season. She is a lefty setter who can run a 5-1. She has solid form and has improved every single time I see her play. Most recently, I saw her at USAV Nationals, where she had some great swings on two and was spreading her offense well. She caught my eye again at the showcase, where her tempo sets impressed, as did her court management.
Emily is a dynamic and passionate athlete who is very competitive on the court. She plays every point like it is game point in an important match. I love the intensity she brings to the court. Emily is a very talented passer – her serve receive is clean and consistent, and her defense is gritty. She also has a great swing and can play all six rotations.
Highlights
Samantha is a setter with a soft touch on the ball and great decision-making. She feeds all of her hitters and isn’t afraid to go back to a hitter who just made a mistake. Samantha was a consistent force at the showcase – putting up great sets and rarely making errors. She is a setter with huge potential and an athlete to watch.
Highlights
Adia’s intangibles stood out very early on in the showcase. She was an energizer on the court and was engaged with the other athletes. Her talk was encouraging and productive, and she never stopped communicating with her teammates. She also has clean form and nice angles to the ball.
Highlights
Brenna is another libero who dominated as a leader and athlete. She worked incredibly hard and got some amazing touches on really tough balls. Her serve receive impressed me, and she was a valuable athlete in the transition and scrimmage drills. Brenna is new on my radar but not an athlete I will forget soon.
Ava leads by example. She has a ton of heart on the court and will run down any ball to better it for her team. She rarely called for help and did all of the little things right. Her defense is solid, and she picked up some great balls in coverage. As a setter, she is gritty and adjusts her sets well when she is on the run.
