Of the thirty-plus athletes at our Freshman Showcase, some will definitely be under-the-radar kids that should surprise once the fall comes around. Here are five that should do just that.

Alexis Muegge, 5-9 OH, Greenfield-Central, Rev

Of the outsides I saw, Alexis showed some of the most natural and smoothest athleticism. She was just as effective at the net as she was from behind the baseline, and I even posted a video on Twitter of her ending a play with a kill beating the block. Sure and consistent, I look forward to Alexis' development this fall.

Evyn Taylor, 5-11 RS, Brebeuf, Circle City

Every bit of 5-11, Evyn maxes her jump and her swing to hit high and make some blocks obsolete. Because of her size and strength, I think she'd be better suited as a right side. Her footwork makes her look more natural on the right pin. That being said, Miss Taylor did not hesitate in taking multiple swings at multiple positions whenever she was given the chance.

Haley Torbert, 5-5 OH/DS, Terre Haute South, COA

A spitfire of an athlete, Haley played fearlessly throughout her two hours with us. Although she might be done growing, her ability to pass and attack in the game-like situations made her look the part of a full-time outside. Her projection has her as a DS at the next level, but her athleticism has her striving for bigger things.

[player_tooltip player_id='411023' first='McKenna' last='Yadon'], 5-8 OH, Benton Central, Boiler Juniors

In short, McKenna went from one of our Top Performers on Sunday morning to the top attacker for the White Division at Purdue team camp, all while leading BC to a tournament win at Purdue. Fully capable of being a six-rotation outside, she just completed her club season on Boiler Juniors' 14-1 squad this past spring, and has the ability (and the stamina, apparently) to do everything she wants on a volleyball court.

[player_tooltip player_id='443840' first='Marin' last='Walters'], 5-8 OH, Tri-West

Without a club at the moment, Marin showed up and showed out. She plays outside regularly, but I have her on clips in Twitter in the middle taking swings against more experienced and bigger blockers. She's willing to do the work, does all of the little things to be available to hit, and has the athletic acuity to play multiple positions.
