Here are five leading blockers from the Class of 2024 from 2A schools. A couple of them I saw play last week at the Pittsburg State University Team Camp.
Next week I will shift to reports zeroing in on some of the top players from 1A schools to bring the month of July to an end before focusing on previewing the upcoming 2023 high school season in August.
Alex Pasquarelli, 5’11”, MH, Erie
Pasquarelli unofficially led Class 2A in blocks for players from the Class of 2024. She accumulated 143 total blocks. I watched Pasquarelli play the Pitt State Camp last week. She can take over a match with her hitting and blocking skills. The Erie prospect finished with 193 kills during the 2022 season. She is a college-level talent who needs to find a home for the 2024 season.
Ella Burnett Ella Burnett 6'2" | MB Erie/ Club JOMO | 2024 State KS , 6’2”, MB/OH, Erie
Burnett is also a blocking machine playing in Erie Red. She finished her junior season with 98 total blocks and 135 kills. She has multiple offers from NAIA and JUCO programs. A big senior season will surely mean she should receive more offers. She has all of the tools. She can hit, block, serve and play defense.
Chloe Schmidt Chloe Schmidt 5'11" | MB Inman | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, MH, Inman
Schmidt is a big-time threat at the net. She finished her junior season with 98 total blocks an increase of 30 blocks from her sophomore season. Schmidt also finishes off rallies with her attacking skills. She finished with 336 kills during the 2022 season. She has a sweet swing and is on an Inman team that is very talented.
Genesis Harvey, 5’9”, MH, Hoxie
Harvey finished her junior season with 62 total blocks, more than doubling her block total from the season before. She also added 163 kills to her junior season stat sheet. Harvey has a knack for finding holes in the opposition’s defense. She is a front-row-only prospect.
Kinley Rogers Kinley Rogers 5'10" | MB Hoxie | 2024 State KS , 5’10”, MH/OH, Hoxie
Hoxie has two big-time blockers on the Indians’ roster. Rogers finished with 54 total blocks giving her back-to-back seasons of 50-plus bocks. She is a jumper with a compact swing. The Hoxie prospect has 633 career kills in three seasons of varsity action. With 377 kills during her senior season, she would join the 1,000 career kill club. Rogers also plays center for the Hoxie basketball squad.
Avery Eshleman, 6’1”, MH/OH, Sacred Heart
Eshleman is the second-tallest prospect on this list. She finished with 52 total blocks during her junior season. The Sacred Heart prospect gets big air and hits the ball with authority. She also racked up 338 kills during the 2022 season. Eshleman committed to playing volleyball at Fort Hays State University after high school.
