Many players stood out to our court coaches and scouts throughout the entire showcase for a variety of reasons. Some players stood out for their dynamic physical skills and some stood out for intangibles like leadership, effort and attitude. Let’s meet a few of the players who earned the honor of Top Performer at the showcase.
Dakota Huynh Dakota Huynh 5'2" | DS/L McMillen | Plano East | 2027 State TX [2027] 5-1 Libero (HS: Plano West/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Dakota is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She is now on my official watch list after what I saw in person at the showcase. She plays for Plano West High School and also club for the nationally recognized Dallas Skyline program. Miss Huynh was stellar in her total ball control throughout the entire two hours. I was thoroughly impressed with how balanced her footwork was while moving to the ball and during contact of the ball. Everything about her stood out to me and her court coaches on the defensive side of the ball. She just had a nose for the ball and it felt like she was always in the perfect position to play the ball. I attribute that to some phenomenal court vision and anticipation of where the ball would go. She is a libero who I will for sure keep my eye on as we roll out the rankings for this class soon. Keep her name at the top of your list for players to watch this high school season.
Femke Smits Femke Smits 5'6" | S Chisholm Trail | 2027 TX [2027] 5-5 Setter (HS: Chisholm Trail/Club: Peak/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Femke is an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She plays at Chisholm Trail High School and also plays for the Peak volleyball club program. Miss Smits showed so much leadership while on the court and I was very impressed by it. While others were hesitant to volunteer to go first, Femke was not afraid to test her skills in front of others. The word that comes to mind when I watched her on Sunday was FAST! She was very fast all over the court in tracking down the passes and tosses. The ball also came out super fast from her talented hands. Whatever team has her dishing the ball, will enjoy awesome athleticism and someone who will run through a wall if her team needed her to. I will definitely be watching her progress this high school season to see where she ranks with the best of the best in the state. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award from our showcase.
Haylee Claypoole Haylee Claypoole 5'7" | S Walnut Grove | 2027 TX [2027] 5-6 Setter (HS: Walnut Grove/Club: Excel/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Haylee is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Walnut Grove High School and also for the Excel club program. The couple of aspects that wowed me about Hay were her posture and ability to deliver the ball to the pins during out of system plays. She was spectacular when the ball was out of system. It didn’t matter whether she used her platform for low or really far away balls. No matter what, the ball was almost always in a high perfect position for the pin attackers to get a solid swing on the ball. Meanwhile, her posture was phenomenal during “in-system” plays. The blockers could never tell which direction she was about to go with the set. This is going to translate into one on one situations for her hitters when she gets older. Her back set was on target and that is a sign that she is ready to move to the next level with her team’s offense. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award from our showcase.
