Many players stood out to our court coaches and scouts throughout the entire showcase for a variety of reasons. Some players stood out for their dynamic physical skills and some stood out for intangibles like leadership, effort and attitude. Let’s meet a few of the players who earned the honor of Top Performer at the showcase.
Amia Wigfall Amia Wigfall 5'7" | RS Rock Hill | 2027 TX [2027] 5-6 Outside (HS: Rock Hill/Club: Madfrog ‘ last=”]/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Amia is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She is now on my official watch list after what I saw in person at the showcase. She plays for Rock Hill High School and also club for the nationally recognized Madfrog ‘ last=”] volleyball program. Miss Wigfall sure did make a huge splash to all of the court coaches who watched her at the showcase as she jumped very well and stayed super aggressive while attacking everyone in her way. She is just another one of Madfrog ‘ last=”] great leapers who can throttle the ball on both pins. I love how high she reaches when she is making contact with the ball. This will make it very difficult for blockers to time her attack and it will help her stay efficient when scoring. She gets off of the ground in a hurry from anywhere on the court. I love how she is ready to swing from any location and it doesn’t matter if the ball is in system or not. As time goes on, she will develop even further and turn into a true point scorer.
Camryn Penn Camryn Penn 5'8" | S Lovejoy | 2027 State TX [2027] 5-7 Setter (HS: Lovejoy/Club: Dallas Skyline/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Camryn is an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings, but that is only because we have not released them yet. She plays at the legendary Lovejoy High School and also plays for the nationally recognized Dallas Skyline volleyball club program. Miss Penn was a joy to watch as she ran the show for her team during the scrimmage drills. She looked like a seasoned veteran moving the ball from pin to pin. I love how, at this young age, Cam had the intent to run her middles even in out of system settings. Her size and speed are two aspects that will keep her at the top of the setting list for sure. She was very poised during tense situations and never backed down from anyone from what I could see. I had a few of our court coaches remark at how she played much older than her age. Her eyes stayed focused on the opposing side during defense and it helped her to stay ready for anything that came her way. She is someone who I will definitely keep my eye on as the high school season progresses. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award from our showcase.
Ava Sanborn Ava Sanborn 5'8" | DS/L Rockwall | 2027 TX [2027] 5-7 Libero (HS: Rockwall/Club: Madfrog ‘ last=”]/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Ava is currently an unranked prospect in the 2027 Class according to our Prep Dig Texas State Rankings. She plays at Rockwall High School and also for the famed Madfrog ‘ last=”] club program. Miss Sanborn was relentless in her overall pursuit of the ball on the defensive side. She would not let the ball just fall without a solid push toward it. Ava was picture perfect when it came to her posture while at base. There was never a time when she would break her well-disciplined posture and stand up. It was always forward and low like a libero should be. This tells me that she is super coachable and has been trained very well at it. I still see a lot of older players not be as disciplined at this very important aspect of the position. I think her future is very bright and we will keep watching her volleyball journey. Please help us congratulate her on earning a Top Performer award from our showcase.
