Continue ReadingUSA Jr Nationals, were be held in Chicago a few weeks ago and we were lucky enough to watch in person. Nationals is the ultimate test to the end of the season as it brings together all of the teams who have earned a bid to participate. These wonderful teams have proven themselves through a very long and grueling club season and will compete against other top notch teams who have earned the right to play in this prestigious tourney. We will be highlighting teams and individual players that showed up and showed out! Let’s take a look at a few teams and players.
San Gabriel Elite 16 Roshambo competed in the American Division of USA Jr Nationals. They are from the Southern California Region and only lost two matches during the whole tourney en-route to winning the National Championship. They had a very tough road and played their best when it truly mattered against the best of the best. Here are just a few of the names to know from their talented squad who played very well when I watched them in the championship match.
Audrey Nuckols Audrey Nuckols 6'2" | OH Mayfield Senior | 2025 State CA [2025] 6-2 Outside (HS: Mayfield/Club: San Gabriel Elite /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Audrey is currently an unranked prospect in the 2025 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but that will definitely change once I update them next month. She plays for Mayfield High School and plays club for the San Gabriel Elite volleyball club program. You can’t miss this youngster dominating on a court when you walk by her match. She is big and physical at the net. Her prowess is very noticeable when she loads up to take a solid swing against her opponents. Yes she is six foot two, but she is a lot more than that. Her offensive skill set is highlighted by how she moves the ball around so effortlessly. This kind of ball control with the attack puts her on an elite list of point scorers from across the nation. She is just much fun to watch as she proves that she can play at the next level. There is no doubt why USA Volleyball named her the Most Valuable Player in the tourney. If you have not seen her play, I strongly suggest you give her a look and you will see the dominant player we do.
Taylor Treahy Taylor Treahy 6'0" | OH Saugus | 2024 CA [2024] 6-1 Outside (HS: Saugus/Club: San Gabriel Elite /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Taylor is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but that will change once I update them next month from what I saw in person at nationals. She plays at Saugus High School and also club for the awesome San Gabriel Elite volleyball club program. This lefty point scorer was astounding in the entire tournament. Her blocking during he championship match forced opposing attackers to change their shot and not battle against her. I loved how fast she was during defensive transition. Getting to her touch point to get ready for the set was not a problem at all as she was super fast after landing from the block. San Gabriel setters knew that she was ready to attack and fed her often, which led to some great outcomes. Any program who is looking for a game changing lefty to bolster their offense should look no further. Please congratulate her on earning All Tournament honors from USA Volleyball.
Kelsey Kim [2024] 5-9 Outside (HS: Harvard-Westlake/Club: San Gabriel Elite /Verbal: Uncommitted)
Kelsey is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Harvard-Westlake High School and also for the San Gabriel Elite volleyball club. Miss Kim was phenomenal playing all the way around for her squad. She made such an impact on the defensive end out of the middle back position. I love how she has such a balanced and strong base with her footwork. She was in a read position throughout the entire time and her court vision was amazing. Routinely she was in such a great position to play the ball. Offensively she did her job and scored points for her squad to help them win the championship. She was able to earn All Tournament honors from USA Volleyball because of her play. Please help us congratulate her on the achievement.
