Below are a five athletes to watch from Aliso Niguel High School:

Gigi Green | 5'10” | 2025 | S |
A consistently high contact point is a standout part for the game of Gigi Green. Additionally, she maintains that contact point no matter where the pass goes. Her steady, controlled footwork gives her time to read the pass and position herself well to set. Green moves the ball around well with a perfect pass and makes the smart set when on the move. Again, her near full extension when setting the ball really creates a challenge for an opposing blocker.

Jaslene Massey | 6'0” | 2026 | MB |
Jaslene Massey is an athletic, quick footed middle hitter. Her active feet often put her in a place on the court where she is uses any part of her body to get it over the net. Described another way, her quick feet gives her an ability to react really well to unexpected situations. As she goes to hit a slide, she is often out in front of the set. Doing this only makes it easier for a setter to feel comfortable setting that blind set. Massey takes long strides to get off and then back on the net for hit quick sets in front of the setter.

[player_tooltip player_id='161482' first='Riley' last='Barr'] | 6'2” | 2024 | S |
Another setter with a high contact point for the Wolverines, [player_tooltip player_id='161482' first='Riley' last='Barr'], is great at getting the ball out with just the pads of her fingers. However, take a look at her backset and notice she makes slightly longer contact. Additionally, the ball drops into her hands more with the backset. As a reactive defender, Barr is patient, sees the play develop, and then reacts to make a defensive play.

[player_tooltip player_id='161483' first='Rian' last='Barr'] | 6'0” | 2024 | MB |
[player_tooltip player_id='161483' first='Rian' last='Barr'] completes an excellent package of middle blockers for the Wolverines. She is a straight ahead hitter no matter the play. The me against you hitter vs blocker idea of a straight ahead hitting is a necessary trait for any team's attack. Being fearless, her teammates can count on Barr to win the net play battle. She runs all sets and stays with her setter's call regardless of the pass. Even though the pass may not be perfect she remains ready to hit.

Macey Smith | 5'8” | 2025 | L/DS |
Cool, calm, and collected can set an overall tone for the serve receive and Macey Smith will bring that mindset. Smith just plays. She watches action develop and sits back eagerly for her opportunity. Whether off the block, quickly at her, or a slow developing offspeed attack, she is coiled and waiting. When the ball comes to her on defense, her first priority is the get her body open to the court.
