The first report focuses on “Heavy Hitters.” Players who racked up large kill totals during the junior seasons.
Here are five players headed into their senior seasons hoping to improve on their numbers and lead their teams to a state title.
Karoline Schroeder Karoline Schroeder 5'6" | MB Wheatland-Grinnell | 2024 State KS , 5’8”, OH, Wheatland-Grinnell
After a junior season with 400 kills, Schroeder is just 177 kills away from being a member of the 1,000-kill club. Schroeder is also a solid defensive player with 329 digs as a junior. She only needs 68 digs for 1,000 of those for her career. She is a smart player who communicates well with her teammates.
Sydnie Jones, 5’10”, OH, Bucklin
Jones is a three-sport athlete who should have a solid chance of playing collegiately somewhere. On the volleyball court, she is an aggressive outside hitter who can take over a match. She finished with 326 kills and 241 digs during the 2022 season. The Ace prospect is a shortstop and pitcher for the softball team and a solid combo guard on the basketball squad.
Lauren Brummet Lauren Brummet 5'11" | S Lakeside | 2024 State KS , 5’11”, OH/MH, Lakeside
Brummet is a scoring machine for Lakeside. She finished with 387 kills during her junior season, which was an increase from the 346 kills from the season before. She has 834 career kills and 1,000 career kills are within reach as she heads into her senior season. Brummet filled up her stat sheet as a junior finishing with 209 digs, 314 serve receptions, 115 assists, and 46 aces.
Alaina Eck Alaina Eck 5'4" | OH Little River | 2024 State KS , 5’4”, MH, Little River
The shortest prospect on this list might very well be the biggest leaper of the group. She finished her junior season with 343 kills. She has 765 career kills and also can play backrow well finishing with 321 digs and 428 serve receptions. Eck has been playing varsity since her freshman year and could end up with 1,000 career kills, digs, and serve receptions. She is also an accomplished point guard for the Redskins basketball team.
Marley Little Marley Little 5'8" | OH Kiowa County | 2024 State KS , 5’8”, OH/DS, Kiowa County
Little had a breakout year as a junior. She finished with 342 kills and 57 aces for the Mavericks. She has a big reach and can jump. She can play just about any position on the court and would be a solid signing for any college program in Western Kansas.
