Registration for the Michigan Freshman Showcase is still open. Just click on the link to sign up before this upcoming Saturday.
Included in the field that has signed up is a solid group of talent from the Michigan Elite volleyball program. Members of their featured 14 Mizuno and 14 Elite squads will be on hand to showcase their talents.
Here’s a look at those that have signed up.
Olivia Berishaj Olivia Berishaj 5'11" | MB Eisenhower | 2027 MI , MH Eisenhower/14 Mizuno
Berishaj has a solid court IQ for a middle. She adapts well to the ball and works a lot of offspeed and location shots to beat the defense. When she dials up her fastball, she’s got good power and velocity. This showcase will be a chance for her to show just how much power she can bring to the net.
Eleanor Williams Eleanor Williams 5'11" | RS Romeo | 2027 State MI , S/OPP Romeo/14 Mizuno
Williams is another player that brings a lot of intangibles to the court. As a setter/RS combo, she’s able to contribute in every facet of the game and quickly recognizes where she needs to be to make a play. Her attacks brings consistent power and challenge the blockers, while her defense is improving and her instincts are getting sharper. As a setter, Williams brings a good feel for the hot hitter and where to best attack the defense.
Leah Bongiovanni Leah Bongiovanni 6'0" | OH Marian | 2027 MI , OH Marian/14 Elite
Another 6-foot hitter that will be joining the Marian program, Bongiovanni brings consistent power on her attacks without having to exert a lot of energy. Her swing mechanics appear very natural and fluid. She does a good job of working over the blockers while still attacking the back row at a sharp angle. Bongiovanni is also continuing to put in the work defensively to become a more complete player.
Gabby Lavoie Gabby Lavoie 5'6" | DS/L Northville | 2027 MI , L/DS Northville/14 Elite
Lavoie is stepping into a Northville program that is known for producing top defenders. She’s got the agility and athleticism to fit in just fine there. Lavoie is able to cover a lot of ground in the back row. Though sometimes her decision-making is slightly delayed, she’s able to make up for it with her length and quickness. As she gets more comfortable and confident, Lavoie is going to be another rock steady defender for Northville.
Brenna Mirovsky Brenna Mirovsky 5'7" | S Oxford | 2027 State MI , S/OPP Oxford/14 Elite
Mirovsky looks to be a very driven player. She plays with a lot of enthusiasm and displays the leadership skills you look for. As a hitter, Mirovsky may not have the size of some of her peers, but she consistently puts a nice pop on the ball and can attack sharp angles. If blockers get to the ball, it tends to land right out of bounds. As a setter, Mirovsky is working on mixing up her sets and locations, but stays calm and focused during long rallies.
Madison Monroe Madison Monroe 5'8" | DS/L Bloomfield Hills Marian | 2027 MI , DS/OH Marian/14 Elite
Monroe is a technically sound player. Her defensive skills allow her to transition quickly from serve receive to attack and put a solid swing on the ball. She’s got great form on her passing and looks very composed when the ball is coming her way. As an attacker, Monroe can still improve on her timing to get the most out of her swings, but she’s found a consistent home on offspeed attacks.
Brooklyn Rummler Brooklyn Rummler 6'2" | MB Stoney Creek | 2027 MI , OH/MH Stoney Creek/14 Elite
The 6-foot Rummler is definitely shaping up to be one of the top blocking prospects in this Class of 2027. Her wingspan and athleticism allow her to cover a lot of space at the net. Her timing is impeccable. Even when not stuffing attacks, she’s slowing down most that come near her. Offensively, Rummler uses an aggressive swing to forcefully attack the defense. She can make all the swings, and can start to take more command offensively with her skillset.
