These athletes may have breakout seasons this year and have a lot of potential. Here are some under-the-radar athletes that caught my eye at the Varsity Sizzle.
Elizabeth Jacobs Elizabeth Jacobs MB Appleton East | 2026 State WI – Middle Hitter – 2026 – Appleton East
Elizabeth puts in huge effort on every point. She makes aggressive choices on offense and is locked and loaded to move across the net on defense. Elizabeth does all the little things right and is hungry for the ball. She never backs down from a challenge on the court and elevates the game of those around her.
Olivia Witon Olivia Witon OH Brookfield Central | 2026 State WI – Outside Hitter – 2026 – Brookfield Central
Olivia is very dynamic and does not make a lot of errors. She sees the court well and is very athletic. Olivia can play on either pin and adjusts well on out-of-system balls. She played in the front row at the Sizzle and was a consistent force on the court. She has a lot of potential as an athlete in this strong program.
Keira Robidoux Keira Robidoux 5'6" | S Mukwonago | 2025 State WI – Setter – 2025 – Mukwonago
Keira is a gritty setter who has really impressed as an athlete and a leader. I saw her at the Prep Dig Gauntlet; she stood amongst the region’s best. She has a great touch on the ball and is a high-level setter, but her intangibles set her apart. She is a natural leader on the court and has a ton of energy.
Morgan Baehman – DS/Libero – 2025 – Appleton West
Morgan stepped up in a big way for Appleton West. When I saw her play, she was playing in the defensive specialist position, and she was consistent with great ball control. She picked up great balls across the end line and hustled for every ball.
Jacinda Bennet – Right Side Hitter – 2024 – Luxemburg-Casco
Jacinda was a key player for Luxemburg-Casco at the Sizzle. She has a high contact point and a heavy hand on the ball. Jacinda can power through tough blocks and puts up a great block herself. She earned numerous impactful points and was a go-to hitter in the front row.
Peyton Kaminski Peyton Kaminski DS/L Luxemburg-Casco | 2024 State WI – DS/Libero – 2024 – Luxemburg-Casco
Payton is a very impressive athlete. She can protect the back line from corner to corner and made some truly incredible saves. Peyton is quick and explosive in her movement and reads opposing hitters very well. She impressed me time and time again throughout the tournament.
Greta Nolte – Outside Hitter – 2024 – Fox Valley Lutheran
Great is scrappy and smart. She can play all six rotations consistently and was a go-to hitter for Fox Valley Lutheran at the Sizzle. Greta’s approach and contact point on the ball are consistent, which helps her to move her shots around well. She can find ways to earn points even against big blocks.
Emily Schell – Setter – 2024 – Winneconne
Emily has a soft touch on the ball and knows her hitters well. She moved the ball around well and clearly was an experienced leader and athlete on this team. Emily impressed me with her decision-making and ability to improve the ball on tough passes. She is a solid setter with a lot of potential to have a big impact this coming season.
Salem Boyd Salem Boyd 5'9" | MB Seymour | 2025 WI – Middle Hitter – 2025 – Seymour
Salem was very athletic with a huge vertical. She had a ton of raw athletic talent. She had some great rips on the ball when she connected with her setter. Salem was aggressive and disciplined on the net. She could be relied upon to find a great spot for the ball on offense and put up a big block on defense.
