Every year there are some setters who fly under the radar. It's easy to name some of the top setters returning but we wanted to see which players are on the brink of becoming that next name you need to know. Today we look at some of the setters who had good numbers but numbers we expect to see stronger in 2023. Some of these players are in 6-2 systems and either taking over the show or returning in that role. In this list, you will also see players who just didn't play a lot but will have a bigger role.

[player_tooltip player_id='222090' first='Alayna' last='Vaeth'] - 2026 - St. Thomas Aquinas

I mean, what more can we expect from a player who contributed to a state title in 2022? More solid play! In her first season, she contributed to a high-power offense with 334 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='355646' first='Allyson' last='Orth'] - 2026 - Bishop Carroll

The Bishop Carroll sophomore was good in her first season. In limited action as a setter, she had 140 assists. After the graduation of two seniors, look for a bigger role for Orth in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='219715' first='Campbell' last='Chabot'] - 2025 - Topeka Seaman

We've discussed Chabot here and there over the last year as we know she is a high-level setter. She had a strong club season and we expect that to carry over this fall. She dished 527 assists a year ago.

Keneth Rodriguez - 2025 - Sumner Academy

Kansas City, Kansas gets some love with the rising junior Rodriguez earning some ink after a season with 488 assists.

[player_tooltip player_id='173379' first='Delainee' last='Dexter'] - 2025 - Eisenhower

Dexter plays a couple of roles for Eisenhower as an attacker and a setter. Both numbers will jump in 2023. With being needed more offensively, her assists took a little dip from year one to year two but she has over 1000 in her career.

[player_tooltip player_id='493422' first='Lauren' last='Heinz'] and [player_tooltip player_id='220101' first='Kaitlyn' last='Gordon'] - 2025 - Andover

Andover ran a 6-2 last year and both of those players are back in 2023. We don't know if they will run the same system but both players had near identical numbers in the assist category. Heinz delivered 344, while Gordon was just behind with 340.
