Some say that numbers do not lie and we have the numbers that are being reported by coaches across the state. California is one of the best states in the nation when it comes to this wonderful sport and we are here to highlight all of our amazing players. Let’s meet a few of the middles who are dominating at the net for their squads.
Mya Marsh [2024] 5-11 Middle (HS: Bear River/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Mya is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays out of the middle at Bear River High School. Miss Marsh currently leads the state right now in hitting efficiency with 68 kills in 106 attempts and only 2 errors. This calculates to an amazing .623 hitting percentage. Her senior season is off to a solid start with her awesome exploits out of the middle. While middles tend to hit at a much higher clip than other attackers do because of the tempo at which they hit from, hitting over six hundred is out of this world. Mya is no stranger to accolades though since she has numerous player of the match awards from last season. We will be watching her season very closely to see if she can keep up this momentum and lead her team to greatness. Stay tuned to more from Miss Marsh.
Chloe Albiez Chloe Albiez 5'11" | OH Trinity | 2024 State CA [2024] 5-11 Middle (HS: Trinity/Club: Titan/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Chloe is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings. She plays at Trinity High School and also plays for Titan Volleyball club. Miss Albiez has the most kills out of the middle position amongst all grad classes in the state of California this early in the season. She has tallied 135 kills in only 29 sets played so far. On varsity since her sophomore year, her kill total has risen every single year which tells me that she is still getting better and better. The two-sport stud also shines on the hardwood during basketball season for Trinity. Her varsity squad runs her out of both pins during serve receive rotation and she lets that power show out by dropping bombs that cannot be returned. During defensive transition, she mainly runs a higher tempo out of the middle and this allows her to bang out kills to the corners. She truly understands how to turn on the ball and not get blocked. We will be watching her closely.
Connie Huttman [2024] 5-10 Middle (HS: Willow/Verbal: Uncommitted)
Connie is currently an unranked prospect in the 2024 class according to our Prep Dig California State Rankings, but she is on my watch list. She plays at Willow high School. Miss Huttman was a nominee last year for an All- State award and she is still on the top of her game during her senior season. With her awesome right arm leading the way, Willow High School will be on track to go back to the state playoffs. This year she has already tallied 93 kills on a very impressive .357 hitting percentage in only 19 sets played. Every year she has gotten better and better with her stats and this year is no different. While it is very apparent that her setters know she is one of their top scoring threats, no one has figured out how to stop her. We will be watching her very closely to see how she will finish her senior season.
