The Trinity Knights hosted a four-team tournament on August 26 to open the 2023 season.

Prep Dig was in attendance and scouted the Knights' first two matches of the day, both of which were tight three-set battles fought to the finish.

Augusta, Wellington, and Riverton were the other three participants. Here is a look at four Trinity prospects who posted solid numbers in the two wins.

[player_tooltip player_id='188115' first='Elle' last='Davis'] , 5'11”, OH, ‘25

Davis is just a junior but she is Trinity's primary option in the offense. She is a slick six-rotation player who can really achieve in every facet of the game on the court. Davis was a stat monster in both of Trinity's first matches of the season. In the opening match against Wellington Davis racked up 10 kills, 10 digs, nine serve receptions, two aces, and one block. In the win over Augusta, she finished with 13 kills, five digs, six receptions, three aces, and one block. She is a high riser, it would not surprise me if she gets Division I offers from a local program for smaller out-of-state DI programs, but I would predict she is destined to play at the DII level, more than likely a member of the MIAA.

[player_tooltip player_id='516241' first='Audrey' last='Smith'], 6'3”, MH, ‘26

Smith just might have an even higher ceiling than Davis. The sophomore is an imposing threat at the net. Not only is she six-foot-plus, but she has a huge wing span and can jump. In the match against Wellington, she finished with 10 kills and five blocks. In the victory over Augusta, she had two kills and one block. The Knights are a different team when she is not on the court. She is still young and raw, but very talented. She might project as a front-row-only player at the next level but should have schools at all different levels knocking on her door with offers.

Reagan Allen, 5'7”, L/DS, ‘25

Another prospect from the junior class is libero Reagan Allen. She is the workhorse of the Knights and her teammates feed off her energy. She was a defensive machine in both matches. She finished with 10 digs and 14 serve receptions in the win over the Crusaders and collected 12 digs and 18 receptions in the win over the Orioles. She has cat-like reflexes and gets too tough balls. The only critical improvement I have for the young libero is that she went after at least half a dozen balls that teammates were calling out as being too deep.

Dominque Schellenger, 6'0”, RS/MH, ‘26

Schellenger is an interesting prospect since she is probably the team's third-best hitter, but in the opening matches it was Schellenger who would come up with the high-pressure kill in a tight rally. She is a playmaker and can get up high over the net. She finished the first match with seven kills and three blocks and then added two kills and one block in the second match. She will be a player for coaches to list in their roller decks for future reference.
