It's easy to explore the top players returning each year but it's even more exciting to try to gauge who will be the picks to click for this upcoming season. So that is our challenge, try to determine who will be the breakout performers this season. We will start with the setters in Missouri's top class, 5.

[player_tooltip player_id='222580' first='Grace' last='Holtz'] - Howell Central - 2026

The sophomore saw action in 85 sets last year and had 332 assists. She should be able to increase those numbers this fall with an expanded role on the floor. She played her club ball with HPSTL last club season and played well.

[player_tooltip player_id='237016' first='Charlie' last='Frederick'] - St. Joseph's Academy - 2026

Frederick played in limited sets last year but did a solid job in her time on the floor. She dished out 148 assists in 37 sets. They return a junior setter but it would be hard to keep Frederick off the floor in some role, especially if they run a two setter system.

[player_tooltip player_id='219775' first='Brylee' last='Johnson'] - Lee's Summit - 2025

Johnson has been good in her first two seasons at Lee's Summit. She had over 800 assist in her first year, and over 500 last year. Expect for her to take another step in her junior season for the Tigers.

Katie Hickman - St. Joespeh's Academy - 2025

Hickman is the other setter we discussed with highlighting Frederick above. As a sophomore, she led the team in assists and should be able to expand on those numbers in 2023.

[player_tooltip player_id='261309' first='Layla' last='Redding'] - Blue Springs - 2025

Blue Springs graduated two other setters and Redding is the top assists leader returning. She delivered 226 of them in 68 sets. She played with Dynasty this past club season.

Emma Kimbrel - Park Hill South - 2024

Park Hill South has some major weapons back on the pin this fall and Kimbrel is the one returning setter of the two that totaled over 1100 assists as a unit. We will see if she runs the show by alone or run a 6-2. They will have new leadership so much to be determined.
